'13 FL RB Derrick Henry (Bama commit)

It seems like he really likes Knoxville and everything the Vols have to offer..The main question is does he like it more than those @$$-hats in Tuscaloosa.

Derrick Henry to Tennessee 2013!!

It was mentioned in another thread. Alabama is a RB dream. They are a run first team and UT is not. The RB at that level think they can compete with anyone and know that in that system its going to take at least 2-3 backs.

That may be true in 2012 or even 2013, if the 4 amigos stay. But, DD has said in the past that he wants to run the ball with 2 TE sets, but will go with the strength of his personnel.

Great to hear. Get someone who is proud to bleed orange to build relationships with recruits.....

I really like Moose (EG), but I don't think he'd be our best option to hang out with recruits

You mean you don't want recruits to hang out with a "player" who thinks we won't win more than seven games this season?

Let's be real I want Henry to play RB for us, but I honestly think Alabama doesn't even want the kid. They have a stable of RB's and 2 top RB's committed and Henry is a bit of a risky recruit because of his size and running style. The main reason Bama is recruiting him is to keep his potential talent away from other SEC schools. Because of his athleticism they'll try to convert him to another position.

i dont think many coaches believe he would stay at RB with his size and i believe most teams that are recruiting him are drooling at the idea of getting a great athlete that can be used in many different ways. Bama wants him and Burns really likes him at RB. they also feel his running style fits their offensive scheme. he will get a chance to play RB, whether or not he beats the other guys out for PT is a different story.

Only if he gets rid of Chaney. Chaney has never been a run first OC and I dont see him changing his style.

New article up on VQ.... summary?

Pretty much the exact same stuff as the 247 summary. Really enjoyed his visit, had more fun this week than on previous trips, has a great relationship with Tiny, and enjoyed working with CJG. Will OV to UT, UA and UGA for sure. Wants to get to USC and 5th is still in the air. Wants to play early, but it doesn't sound like he minds waiting if he has to either.

Dont think DD will give him much choice. He has got to know that in the SEC you have got to run the ball.
Really? Seems like the Gators did pretty well in the SEC for a long time, before Urban Meyer got there. They were never a run heavy or even a balanced offense. Arkansas wasn't much of a running team when Mallet was there, nor were they last year.

I want this team to be more balanced too, but if your winning hand is the passing game, then you play it.

im just ready to have a power back that can actually get 100 yard games against teams like florida, LSU, bama. we havent had a back that i just knew was gonna get it done for awhile. i want a guy who we feel great about on 3rd and 3 on the goal line. henry is that kinda guy. hes just built to be a head knocker even in the sec. same with derrick green. some people like scat backs like corn elder or bellamy or demps or rainey, i like big power backs that wear down a defense and make them worry about when he gets the ball.

When Spurrier was winning there were alot of down teams. LSU and Ala sucked. And the league finally caught up with him. Arky still ran the ball with Niles Davis and were better when it balanced out. Spurrier knows his fun and gun wouldnt work now. And all those years when UT/ UF battled the team with more rushing yards won.

"I worked out with Jay Graham one-on-one (Wednesday) night and it went real well catching some balls and doing some of his drills. It's been a good camp."

"Just the way they are recruiting me. They are non-stop," Henry said. "I like how coach Graham is recruiting me and I liked working out with him. I could tell by the way he worked me that he wants me to be great. And I like being around the players.
