I haven't seen any news on BB lately. Is he going to be a S or LB and starting or back up? Is he fully recovered from injury? I hope he produces this year. I got really excited last year hearing about him laying people out in practiced only to be disappointed not to see him lay out any opposing players.

He exceeded expectations in the spring coming off the injury. Iirc, Dooley commented that they even had to tell him to slow it down a bit because he was going to hard.

I was thinking the same thing yesterday. I wouldn't be surprised to see him in a similar role as last year if he's healthy. SS in running situations.

In the spring, they toyed around with the idea of Brewer at linebacker, but ultimately he will find himself at strong safety in 2012. In summer camp, he will have to hold off Byron Moore in order to hold onto the starting spot. Brewer is back to full strength and should be ready to battle, but Moore is probably the better cover guy. I think both Moore and Brewer will alternate depending on the packages due to their differing skill sets.

Thought LB was his new home. Wasn't safety this spring due to the fact that he didnt need to be around too much action in the box, so they playef him at safety so that he could get more reps?

They played around with him at linebacker, but then they reversed track. He doesn't seem likely to get many reps at linebacker, so safety should be his home. Post-spring depth chart still had him at safety; there's no reason to believe that's changed in summer workouts.

What about that other ILB position? Do you think it will go to Maggitt, or will someone else be able to fill in so we can have that dynamic duo of Maggit and Smith coming off the edge?

Worst case scenario though, I think Maggitt is still used as an outside rusher on 3rd down.

They wanted to work him out at linebacker but with his knee he had to be moved back to strong saftey which is where he will be playing unless Mccneil comes and wows the coaches like AJ and Curt did at linebacker last year then Brewer is your starting strong saftey with Randolph at the free saftey spot.

Curt on the outside. Lathers and AJ inside. Though Curt will get some reps inside probably. BB will probably get some OLB reps again. I think Sal likes versatility because they will run multiple D's this season.

That's what I'm hoping for at LB as well. Maggit and Smith outside could provide the pass rush we've needed since...idk since Overstreet left?

On another note, "multiple d" is probably going to be the most overused phrase this season.

was last season's drop in performance due to him having nagging injuries and trying to play thru it or was it that in 2010, he was free to roam the field and make plays because Berry had his back and now Berry is gone.

I think A.J. and Lathers man the inside with Maggitt and Smith off the edge.

I believe you mean Jackson, but your question is still a good one.

Just a question, but do you think the staff will play LaTroy Lewis at LB or DE?

If you're not at least 250, you'll be a LB. Lewis is a LB. If he were between 250-260, it would be up for debate, but Lewis will be an OLB all the way.

A 3-4 is more of a 5 man front, DE's are really DT's.

Maybe Dooley will tell him to speed it up on game day.:birgits_giggle:
