A writers thoughts on the Tennessee/Florida match up.

Alabama couldn't run vs. Kentucky (or any SEC team) if they put 8 in the box all game.

The UT-UK game was sort of like the UF-FSU game, except that FSU won by 2 TDs and on 95 yards of offense and IN THE SWAMP.

So now Kentucky's defense is the second coming of the '85 Chicago Bears. :eek:lol: So much for that massive offensive line in Knoxville. UK's defense was just too tough. :)

I have no comeback for FSU beating us last year. Our offense stunk out loud, and we lost. Unlike you, who has every excuse in the book as to why Kentucky...KENTUCKY...beat you guys.

Unbelievable. :eek:lol:

to cover up embarrassment, follow these simple steps.

step 1. say something that isn't true, such as, alabama could not run on kentucky if they put 8 in the box all game.

step 2. try to deflect from the embarrassment by mentioning the ineptitude of the opponent who beat you yet again.

the problem is step 1 is laughable and step 2 just points out how bad you really had to be to make john brantley look good.

Sun Sports is replaying last year's UF-UK game right now. It was the best our o-line played all year against an incredible Kentucky defense.

yes, but kentucky wasn't playing the run. we had john brantley and that high flying passing attack which was the focus of that blue steel defense.

so, they decided to shut down the pass and florida ran for over 400 yards.

A masterful game plan from Muschamp, UK never saw that coming. :)

The UK team that everybody loves to chide is not and was not the same team that started the season. That UK team pushed Ga for four quarters the week before our embarrassing show. That same UK team went 2-6 in conference,,,what did your vaunted gators do,,3-5! Not much of a difference. What would really be sweet is after we stomp the daylights out of the gators in Neyland,,is to see the wildcats pull off a victory in your pisssshole of a stadium the next week. If the wildcats could pull it off,,,the gators could very well have a stretch of 8 losses.

Okay I'll stop being an agitator for at least one post....

UF will lose to UT if our offense doesn't find an identity, and find it quickly. The fact that neither QB has established himself as a starter concerns me greatly.

We have one RB I have confidence in, but for whatever reason our coaching staff didn't have the same confidence when Rainey and Demps got dinged up last year. Rainey's contributions on special teams will be missed.

Offensive line will be better, but not world beaters.

I have no concerns whatsoever about our defense.

Yeah, Kentucky was awesome last year. They pushed the same mediocre UGA squad that UF and UT pushed for 4 quarters...the very same UGA squad who played a weak West schedule, backed into the SECCG and got exposed.

It's possible UF suffers its first losing season in over 30 years. If that happens it won't be because of a broken thumb, or because our boys went into shock over losing one player. It will be because we flat out sucked in spite of having elite talent on defense and average to slightly above average talent on offense...and a head coach who might just be in over his head.

Weiss might had something to do with it. IMO,,your team is better off with Weiss gone.

I don't know what game you were watching. You can't count on 1 hand the times it took 2 or 3 Gators to bring down Rogers.

Bray would have completed 35 and thrown for 400 but for the PIs.

If UF puts only 4 in the box, UT will run successully until they don't. Then the turkey shoot begins.

Didn't that vaunted UF front 7 lose 5 games in 2011 -- 4 very badly? Alabama, LSU and SC (sans Lattimore) ran for about 220 yards and UGA 185.

Last year UT ran successfully twenty-one times for minus nine yards. We Gator fans devoutly hope that you will be less successful this year. Someone start poll for the most delusional fan base. I'm thinking volnation can replace the Delusionoles as number one. I know, I know, you're back. Oh! And are you expecting Bray to throw more or fewer interceptions than last year?

Surely you're not so delusional as to assume last year's running game wasn't an aberration? Or are you?

This year's OLine averages 20+ starts and Tauren Poole is gone. He was in there only because he was a Sr and was a team leader. Still, he was a 3* RB at best. UT's got a lot of speed back there now. Let's see what your HC thinks and whether he starts with 8 in the box. If he doesn't, eventually he will.

We'll see whos delusional after UT beats ufs a$$ in Neyland this year.

So we should expect UT's rushing attack to improve from dead last in the SEC to what....2nd? 3rd?

And this is all based primarily on the number of collective starts from an o-line that finished 12th in rushing offense last season.

Unreasonable and unrealistic, but I like your optimism. :loco:

I have no delusions about the possibility of UF losing to you guys. It's bound to happen at some point, and this UF squad is the weakest we'll bring to Knoxville since 1992.

I do find it laughable that Wise is pimping Kentucky's defense and UT's running game to make an argument as to why UT will win.

I think UTs rushing will prolly be middle of the pack in the SEC. I think if the run game can be at least productive enough to open up the passing game then we'll have success

we won't need to be overly successful on the run with the Gators. The Florida secondary is going to have a VERY LONG day in Knoxville this fall. =)

"Home free in 2012"? You must be crazy! He better beat some good teams and go to a decent bowl, or he should be fired. Dooley hasn't done anything so far, and he probably won't this year. TN needs to put up some big bucks and get a winning coach.

What has he had to work with his first and second season? You think Myer or any other $$$$$ coach could have done much better?PLLLLLLLLLLLEASE:nono:

dang..didn't think that one through....hmmm...nah don't wanna go without a limb....maybe I'll just sell my brother's kidney! He's a Georgia fan so...he doesn't deserve it XD

Oh boy... Talk about not thinking it through! NOBODY is gonna buy a Georgia kidney! You're so silly!!

:p

a dumb georgia fan who happens to need a kidney might :)

This, of course, is the question. There is very little a Gator fan can say to defend our offense. It was terrible last year and we lost an experienced QB and two running backs who would have been drafted, plus the offense has to deal with a new OC. So with all of this is mind, somebody answer this question: Why do Vol fans feel obliged to attack a very strong defense and a secondary that is a preseason pick to be second in the SEC?

"It's easier to think about NC State in terms of how bad it would be if we lost. Not here. I don't have to imagine what it feels like to lose to these guys, I know. It's been eight years. But I can imagine an awful lot about how great it would be to beat the Gators. I don't care what their record was last year. I don't even really care if they lose to Texas A&M the week before. If Derek Dooley beats Florida in Neyland Stadium on September 15, his job security will go up astronomically. We would celebrate this win in ways that would stay with us if we lost to Georgia, Alabama, or South Carolina. And man, you put this one together with NC State? If Dooley starts 3-0 (which becomes 4-0 over Akron), I think he's home free in 2012. For everything that matters for Tennessee and for Dooley, this is the one that will mean the most. And in the SEC East, I wouldn't have it any other way."

Thoughts? Is this the most important regular season game? Which game is most important?

the most important game is NC State, because it's the first one

Because several DBs made their first start that game, and the lasting impression of umpteen PI calls is still fresh in the minds of many UT fans, in spite of the fact that UF dropped at least two Bray INTs, and our secondary is no less experienced than their o-line that we pushed around...with just about our entire defense coming back.

UFs offensive production, or lack thereof, will determine the outcome of this game. Period.
