I agree that an animal life is far less valuable than a human life. However, its still pretty serious to enjoy inflicting pain on an animal. Life in prison is prob extreme, but I'd be fine with life probation and counselling.

I am good with 1-3 years in prison, accompanied with lifetime probation and court mandated psychotherapy sessions.

It's just an animal. Big deal. He gets more time than some people get for actually hurting real, live human beings. Not just some animal.

Dumb.

This.

We do not charge and lock up chicken producers for the treatment of chickens. I like dogs and I would not torture a dog for ****s and giggles; however, I am not going to punish a human being for torturing an animal.

One year in prison? It would be the death penalty if he did this to a human.

You're dumb.

The point is, people capable of doing this to an animal are more than capable of doing it to a human.

Everyone is capable of killing another human; maybe we should just lock up everyone else...you know, just to be safe.

It is a ****ing animal.

I obviously don't think her should get the death penalty or anything but acting like this behavior should go unpunished is just silly.

Do you think individuals who eat dogs should be punished?
Do you think individuals that eat veal (certainly a horrible life for a young calf) should be punished?
Do you think individuals that eat foie gras (a very gruesome treatment of animals) should be punished?
What about individuals that employ mouse traps in their homes, or worse the mouse stickers in which the mouse starves to death?
What is qualitatively distinct about a dog that should make it a crime to treat inhumanely (i.e., not as you would treat a human)?

maybe I'm a hypocrite, but the difference for me is the dog in this case was subjected to 4 hours of torture. I'm willing to concede the sticky mouse trap as being inhumane. regarding foie gras, I was under the impression that the forced feeding doesnt subject the geese to pain or discomfort b/c their stomachs can expand at some incredible ratio.

It was a Family Pet.

Had it been a mouse, goose or baby calf that had lived it's life being taken care of as a pet and trusted this kid the way this dog did, and then treated the same way.....I would feel the same as I do now.

Stupid doesn't even come close.

Glad you showed up to spread your dumbassery.

We put dangerous people behind bars. This sociopathic behavior shows he's a dangerous person. We are talking about mental capacity, not physical capacity. But you are probably typing just to get a response.

I have never witnessed a mouse guarding my home, protecting my children, playing with toys, and emotionally connecting with my family.

1-30 years..

If he makes it a month after other inmates know what he's in for, he will be lucky.

I take ypu folks have never seen the dog markets in se asia. They brake their legs and put metal cans over their snouts before slaughtering them.

Can you guarantee he won't?

Taking pleasure in killing cats, dogs & other pets is a big indicator of a person who is more likely to kill another human. And you know it

So what's the solution? Put him in jail for the rest of his life?

No but I don't think a little court mandated psych help would be out of the question.

I'm not saying this guy is gonna hurt a human, cause he may not. But if you think he's not at a higher risk then the rest of us you're kidding yourself.

Oops we violated Internet message board rule #3: never show outrage for something if there has ever been anything worse that has happened.
