-Crystal ball? I haven't predicted anything. Make up with something else. I just don't base this year on last year, which some people do.

-discussions about changes this fall are awesome. Discussions about ky, ark, ga and fla losses last year are ridiculous and tired.

-2011 isn't relative to any Vol fans that I know. It's never a topic of discussion. It was in November and December, but not in freaking April of 2012

Yes the wins and losses are meaningless but you have to look at last year to learn what to do or not to do. What a player did well and didn't do well so you can work on them in 2012 to make them better.

Of course you wouldnt look to last year looking forward to this year.

I can play that game too. Florida has a new o-coord and qb and the line will figure out how to block. Florida will score 40 a game.

And just wait until the freshman (who are all beasts) arrive and contribute immediately.

Doesnt sound right, does it?

2011 is our most recent reference point for this team and staff. People are going to use it as a source for what our staff can/can't do. The OP was referencing the 3 week period where the offense did not adapt to the circumstances.

They did that at the time with film study and end of the year meetings. No coaches are in spring practice focusing on mistakes from last year. They already know the mistakes.

No coaches are looking at last year as they prep for
2012. None. Different year, different team, and different competition.

So because the coaches don't look into past seasons means that the fans can't?

Well, how long can we talk about the past before it is relegated to being irrelevant to now? 6 months? 1 month? Last week's practices? Where is the line drawn?

Hell, there are threads here referencing 15+ years ago.

I haven't made any predictions on 2012, except that I expect the product to look better for various reasons.

Th UGA game was tied 6-6 at the half. We had two 14-play drives to open the game hitting one FG and missing another. Is that coming out "flat and dead"?

You can dwell on the past as long as you desire. My brother does the same thing with life and has been in a rut for years because he keeps dwelling on what ifs.

Like I asked, where do you draw the line? So we can't make any reference to last year at all? What about the offseason?

ETA: Also, there is a difference between "dwelling" in the past and referencing the past.
