Don't y'all worry about Texas one bit. We had a series of bad luck, bad coaching, bad recruiting evaluations, laziness, crappy S&C and inner turmoil. We'll be back sooner rather than later. The entitlement that had settled into the program has been dealt with. We'll lose a couple of games next year setting up a MNC game against The Vols in 2013. :)

I am relatively neutral when it comes to Texas and certainly respect your traditions and history. That said, I don't think you will be "back" until Mack Brown is gone.

You will ALWAYS have highly rated classes. If I were you... I would be more concerned with the actual quality of those classes. When you offer or pursue a kid, it is usually assumed by the recruiting svcs that the kid can play. IMHO, the talent evals starting with MB himself have not been up to snuff in addition to what you posted.

I find it very interesting that there are no articles that have been released by VQ or the other sites about how the in-home visits went yesterday with the Texas coaches and the Tennessee coaches. I don't even know it that is a good or bad sign. It sounds like he may not be talking to no one. Even if he wasn't taking our guys' calls, but was taking Texas' calls, then we would have seen some quotes from articles from their message boards. Instead, all is very quiet. I really thought this thread would go over 10,000 posts after the in-homes yesterdays and the articles about them. Hmmm....:ermm:

I am truly ambivalent on Santos. I would like to have him as part of the class. OTOH, he isn't critical to it.

My only real concern is that he be upfront with the UT staff so they can lock down someone else if he jumps. I think they deserve that with the way they've treated him all along.

You probably think the reason he picks Texas (if he picks Texas) is because it's Texas and his dream school, blah blah blah... right?

It would have nothing to do with the current condition of Tennessee's football program, right? Sal has to hold onto two guys, that's it, with Santos being a guy he's already formed a relationship with... If he doesn't, I'm not so sure about his so called great recruiting ability...

Honestly, the kid is smart... don't get me wrong, BOTH programs are sinking ships but if he's gonna go down with one, why not it at least be his home state school and be that much closer to home? Makes sense, no? I too wish him all the best.

Why do you try so hard to defend your point that we suck?

Nice theory, but do you really believe the territorial thing? Texas could blow this off and claim he just wasn't good enough and they have a full class. They don't offer every good Texas player.

This could be nothing more than his parents want him to play near home and have been horn fans all of their lives. Santos could like UT or Sirmon or wants to play in the SEC and not in the big 12. Thus a conflict with parents.

Why hasn't Texas blown this off yet....They don't need him and made another offer to an Oregano commitment yesterday for DE. Full class. Santos confused? Should be....His tossing and turning in bed may not be about the School Choice at all and I agree. It may just be about what he wants versus what his parents want. That is a tough spot for anybody..to make a choice...Texas is just another mixed bag of tricks...Get him here (Texas) and we will do what we want....

Tell the recruit what he wants to hear and then we will do what we want to when he signs....

He signs with Texas I wish him the best, but IMO it is not his best chance to play at the next level....

"Sweatshirt? But it is 100 degrees outside."

That was cool at one point... now it is stupid.

It is not stupid nor is it trying to look tough.....my dad does the same thing with long sleeve shirts when it is hot out...... It keeps ultra violet rays off of your skin and actually keeps you cooler bc the sweatshirt holds the bodies sweat keeping the person cool during intense heat.

At this point, I'd say apathy kicks in for most people who follow recruiting year round.

However, I'll admit, Santos has been one of favorites since the very beginning, more for his attitude than his skill. If we lose him, will it kill the class? No, but it very well could lose a future leader....

I will agree...the future leader potential is important...
I think he will remain a Vol....VFL
Leaders take calculated risks....Tennessee is a solid one.

Why live a dream, when you can create one for others.

UT # 1 Fan is a trolll....you can just ignore him. He is the one on the left in this photo...

The #1 and #2 conferences are the SEC West Division and SEC East Division. Everything else is irrelevant at this point. Texas is in a mediocre league just like the ACC and Big 10. The #3 league currently and will be in the future is the PAC.

The PAC 12 is better than the sec east I think.

Yea Texas produces talent. Texas U locks their classes up early and holds them decently....The untouchables. Beginning to be a thing of the past. The 20 to 25 talents high end a year maybe becoming more open to going other places now and recruiting in Texas maybe changing.

The offer of Santos is a great example of this and why he got an offer so late in the game to begin with and why he maybe redshirted and why he maybe slotted as a DE vs a LB.

Yea I think what's changing this is less about utx being down the past couple of years and more about the big 12 imploding. Kids realize that the sec is just far and away the better place to really prove you're elite to the NFL.

Really all of you are quite ridiculous! This much debate over a white linebacker is about idiotic. He will average at best just like every other white linebacker UT has had in the past 20 years.

fair enough I can't argue against that solid statement. I disagree that the pac 12 as a whole is better than the east. Maybe a couple of their teams are.

Well I mean you were arguing that the east was better than any other conference right? I think as a whole that those few teams (Oregon stanford USC) make them better than ours. Those are three top 10 teams last year, we had one and it was undeserving... I don't know. I do think the east will take a huge step forward this year considering uga ut Florida and uscjr should all be better, so maybe I'll change my mind after the season.

I agree with that....Tx is the only school that wants to hold it together for the most part....I don't disagree with the evaluation of talent either, nor do I disagree with MBrown and his tenure being over in order for them to recover...all contribute.....

The brainwashing is taking less and less hold on kids. Texas will try to buy its way through this. They cannot stand their status of lower tier.

How did they misread Santos for 2 years......Will the family have to move if he commits to Tennessee...

Small town and mentality about Texas Football. Tough for a kid to be given a decision that important....Or is all this drama at its finest our...

I strongly believe he disappears in the woodwork at Texas and has the potential to be something special here.....
