'12 SC WR Quinshad Davis

I don't think there is any scenario where we tell Kirven no. If he wants to come here, they will work it out.

I agree. Kirven, Q Davis, and Patterson are all must takes but two of em are WR's. We would like both but in terms of need....

What is your gut feeling on Patterson?

The fact that he has only taken SEC visits leads me to believe he has his academic concerns have been resolved. If that's the case, I've always felt we land him. We've done an excellent job recruiting him and were on him early. But don't take it to the bank...JUCOs are highly unpredictable.

For three-star receiver Quinshad Davis (Gaffney, S.C./Gaffney) it’s down to three schools -- Wake Forest, North Carolina and Tennessee, according to his coach Dan Jones.

“Quinshad will visit Tennessee this weekend,” Jones said. “He knows the Vols need receivers and that they have a young quarterback that can really throw the ball.”

Davis, 6-foot-2 and 180-pounds, made an official visit to North Carolina this past weekend. It was a very good and productive visit for Davis and his mother.

“Oh, he had a real good visit,” Jones said. “I think he like coach (Larry) Fedora and that staff. He knows they are going to really throw the football. What he has to get over and what Quinshad has a question with is the probation stuff.”

The one team holding steady with Davis is Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons have done a great job of recruiting him from day one. He made an official visit there earlier this month.

“The bottom line is that Wake Forest has really built that relationship with him,” Jones said. “They are definitely in this thing.”

According to Jones, Davis will make his decision at the high school on national signing day, which is one week from tomorrow. The nation’s No. 51 ranked receiver had a monster senior season, catching 108 passes for over 2,000 yards and 24 scores.

If we add Davis to this already talented group of receivers and possibly Patterson, this is gonna be a sick group of WR's..WOW!! IMO, if we just add one of those, this class of WR's will be considered a recruiting success..No way to go wrong on finishing this class in general,IMO..Especially when you have Davis,Patterson,Kirven,Briscoe, and others(names escape me)in the mix.

So do we take both Q. Davis and Patterson if they both want to come or do we take the first to commit? I know Kirvin is a take but what if Santos stays? Just curious what you all think?

I am leaning more and more toward the idea that between Q Davis and Patterson, Tennessee is going take the first one to commit and at the moment, I believe Q Patterson will be the first to commit. Assuming the other one wants to commit as well, his fate will be dependent on how we end up with Santos (I think we will hang on to him), Kirven (I think we get him also), and Robison. Briscoe could also factor into it if he wants to commit and we miss on Kirven.

If Q. Davis and Patterson want to come to Tennessee, they better get on board soon. Of the remaining two or three spots, Kirven is going to take one of them and Sunceri really wants Robison.

He eliminated SCar. I feel we are sitting really good here. This weekend should sure it up.

I'm still taking some references from Jason Croom's mom from the All Star game in Texas as a positive for us here. Add the fact that we are the last OV for him this weekend (and our staffs ability to pour the hot sauce on these OVs) and I'll say we get a commitment from him maybe by early next week. No inside info here, just thinking smart kids will want to sew up their slots for SEC teams before NSD.

We would make room for both Davis and Patterson. We only have 5 scholarship recievers and one of them has never played a down as a reciever in college. Davis and Patterson are both takes along with Kirven. IMO

Yes but UT already has 4 guys that are said to be WR's in this class: Howard, Bowles, Croom, and Blanc.

I am not at all sure UT takes both.... or even can without dropping someone else at this very late date. And who would that be?

All in all.... nice problems to have for a team that is 23-27 over the last 4 years. I still do not know if Dooley can coach... but I am pretty well convinced he can recruit.
