'12 SC WR Quinshad Davis

They said that USCjr came on too late. JMO, I don't think he liked being a backup option. We will get the last visit after his UNC visit this weekend.

Landing Davis would add to an already solid WR group. If USC is out of the picture I like our chances.

Has he had an official there before?

No official but he had 4 unofficial visits last fall.He is very familiar with the Campus and the program. Those close to him have said that if he gets a USC offer look out that he would accept quickly. That has not happened yet so there is great optimism. We shall see if that optimism is well placed in next two weeks....hope it is.

If true this is an example of nice guys finishing last. The instant USCe mentioned grey shirting is when he eliminated them is my guess. As Saban and DD have shown get these kids on board and mention the grey shirting later.

That's huge if he didn't.

I agree. Also, he has said distance is a factor. He's visiting UNC this weekend and then UT next weekend.

Per Google Maps...

Chapel Hill to Gaffney - 189 miles, 3hr 23mins
Knoxville to Gaffney - 193 miles, 3hr 23 mins

I've been saying it for awhile and I still believe he's a Vol. Especially if USCjr is out of the picture.

During the VQ chat, they said that the remaining receivers and there place on the board were

1. Patterson
2. Q Davis
3. Wilson

It will be interesting to see what happens in the next two weeks.

If we actually get Q. Davis to commit, does that eliminate C. Patterson? Or if CP commits, is this guy out? I don't know how we can take both when we already have DB, JC, and Pig - aren't there only 4 spots left? Can the coaching staff justify signing 5 WRs? Not that I'd complain - I can see all five of these guys being big time contributors, and I think CP/QD/JC have big time star potential.

I'd really like to know how hard we are still recruiting Patterson, and if Patterson is still listening. VQ said in the GQ, yesterday I think, that someone on the UT staff was supposed to visit with Patterson today.

With Davis, if USCjr is really out of the picture, I like our chances now that he cancelled his visit. We get the last visit, and we haven't slow-played him.

Would we take 1 or 2?

JMO, with Bullock, T Thomas, and the kicker taking a scholarship, we only take one more. There isn't much more room. The only way we ask others to look around ATP is if we had a rush of interest from the top DT's on our board.

Is it a sure thing the kicker is taking the scholarship and not walking on?

No they'd take Patterson regardless. This staff feels he is on the same level as Rogers/Hunter. They would not turn him down at all. I'm not sure what they would do with Davis if the role was reversed and Patterson committed first.

I like Q Davis but have shifted a little on him. I think we should probably be comparing him to the HS commits rather than CP. Would I trade Croom, Bowles, or Pig for him? The honest answer is no.

I hope UT gets him if they don't get CP but missing him won't make the WR haul a failure.

Neither did Scroggins with USCcheat, but we saw how that turned out. Hope this turns out better in our favor.
