All the insiders on here are saying something different from each other. Skeeter says we'd be surprised by the hire and LWS says he's just now conducting interviews! It's a bunch of craziness! But I like the ride so far! Go Vols!!!

Randy Shannon sucker or was average at best as a head coach for miami, yet you would be fine with that hire. Also, what does how you did as a head coach have to do with being a defensive coordinator. Charlie Weis may not be a very good head coach, but he is a good offensive mind.

Where is all this talent that you claim he had at Pitt? If he had talent like no one else in the big east then how come pitt had only three nfl draft picks in the years he was there? Seems like if anybody had talent like no one else in the big east on defense it would be southern florida. In his three years there they finished fourth in the big east in total defense his first year, his second year first in the big east, and his third year, and his third year second in the big east and 11th in the NCAA. But yeah you are right eleventh in the country is average at best :crazy:

Goat, what "scrub" hire are you referring to? I dont think I would call Jay Grahams hire a scrub; i think that was a homerun RB hire.

Also, no one wants this guy? Are you sure? I am pretty sure at least one team wants him, hence why he has a job. Say what you want about baylor, but they have been putting big money into the athletic department lately. He got a big contract in his home stat of texas that is going to be tough to sway him a way from hence the lack of interest as you call it. Also, how do you know nobody is after him? According to are media we have not contacted shannon.

I don't think anybody is really in the know, except for the ones that pay to be in it.....Hart has to give them some information.....I think several posters on the board and the media that are out have created more of a mess than warranted.....Fulmer was old school about the attention and Kiffin feed it out like candy, enjoyed the attention...Dooley just doesn't care if they get it or not.....

No I think Graham is a great, great hire!! I'm talking about a Spangler type hire as being a scrub. Sorry for any confusion. Graham is my favorite coach on the staff.

I'm just wondering where some of the media reports and the posts from the "insiders" came from if this is not true. I refuse to believe there hasn't been any contact.

This, and not only because of all of the rumors that are coming out the wood work with it. I still am not sure how this board has somehow turned him into some all time great defensive coordinator that no other coordinator that we hire can live up to. Don't get me wrong he is a very good coordinator, but he is not the end all be all of defensive coordinators that this board is making him out to be.

Best I can tell the only "media" that reported Shannon was a done deal are fansites and bloggers. The only actual media that I've seen/read refuted the Shannon reports. We'll see.

I tried to warn you guys several times to not get too excited about Shannon because it wasn't nearly as serious as bloggers were making it out to be.
