I see the logic, but it wouldn't surprise me if this Shannon stuff is real. From all the smoke from people who I would tend to give a fair shake to as opposed to others, to Michael Palardy's tweet.... it just seems like Shannon is not just a rumor. It just feels like there is a lot of smoke there. And I don't think it is out of the realm of possibility that a contract is being negotiated, which could take a little time.

Add to that that they may want to wait until that gap between the national title game and tonight's Orange Bowl out of a little respect for the teams. Hiring Shannon would get a LOT of play on the mothership.

I'm not sure which is worse, (usually) false post starting with "I heard from a source", or "book it". Not a shot at Doc, but others before/after him.

They are both reaching "vol lock" status

I prefer CRS personally. It also seems likely, because Steele has an arguably better job at Clemson right now, RS doesn't.

I don't doubt there have been some talks, and that he is a top candidate. Just doubting he is #1 right now.

So you think they are delaying the announcement so that they don't draw media attention away from the bowl games yet to play?

Wouldn't expect most people on this board to understand what class and grace are.

As long as a new DC is hired before the Jan 13 recruiting weekend, it's definitely feasible. I didn't say it was 100% the reason, just a possibility.

The DC hire may have extended it to His full contract....What happens if he tries to recruit without a full term as HC....Expect an extension as a possibility...but I will not speculate....You have stated clearly what you feel you know and I disagree with you....Sorry you feel that way...

Go Cheer for another team because it is obvious you are not supporting this one...

My wife did her residency at UT med ctr in Knoxville from 97-2000. Got to be there for nc 98.

Are you with a group? I still miss Knoxville. Great medical community there.

I'm still hearing there has been no contact with CRS. I haven't talked to anyone that indicates there has been.

if there has been, it is the best kept secret ever over there..

What's your gut telling you LWS? Not trying to hold you to any prediction, but you are proven in the know, and just wondering if you have a feel for how confident they are in getting Steele, if he is the top choice?

I think they have a pretty good idea that there is a good chance. they would have contacted him 24-48 hours ago and gotten the indication of interest. now waiting for this game tonight to be over.

it wouldn't take 3 hours to have particulars decided or know if any were going to be a hangups (why I never bought into all the Shannon talk) and then you either announce or move on. I'm not saying expect an announcement early in the morning because they may need to work out additional staff on that side.
