'12 AL DT Justin Shanks

Shanks over McCullers. I want at least a 3 year guy and possibly a 4th. With McCullers not being an EE it hurts his chances of contributing a lot his first year.

Well, not really. His school is on quarters and he'll be on campus in March at whichever school he chooses. So he won't be too far behind the EE's.

I'll take both Shanks and McCullers.

Will McCullers be able to participate in a spring practice? If so, that would change my perception.

No McCullers will not be in until the summer he is not an EE. Shanks IMO would be a much bigger get for this class than he would. Both would be great but we would be lucky to get one at this point.

The staff is far higher on Shanks than they are McCullers. That said they will probably take both if they can get both. I'd definitely prefer Shanks as well.

Georgia Military is on the Quarter system and McCullers doesn't graduate until late March so he will not arrive until June and will not be available for Spring practice .

Really? Maybe TideWarrior was wrong then. If he graduates in March why does he have to wait until June?

TW, OCI, and MiramarVol both said this it is in the McCullers thread.

The visit did help our efforts, but he does have an OV coming up this weekend. GMC is on Quarter semesters. He is good to go grade wise. Since GMC makes players do summer school, he could be at his next destination in the Spring.

TW
Yep he is expected to arrive on whatever schools's campus in March.

OCI
He'll be eligible for spring practice.

Shanks has to be the first choice, imo. He doesn't have the academic issues, has 4 complete years of eligibility, and McCullers would get here at the same time next year as him anyways...That having been said, I would take McCullers, Shanks, and Bryson. No way I would turn down any decent DT prospect at this point. jmo

Two posts from TW regarding McCullers and when he can arrive on his new campus...

He graduates in March from GMC so should arrive on campus in March in time for spring practice.

According to his coach and McCullers that math is wrong because he has to attend the winter qtr which just started and will not finish until March

"GMC is one of the last school systems I know of on the quarter system. From talking to him and his coaches, McCullers will be out of GMC in early March after the winter quarter and could be ready for spring practice at a school of his choice."

The question is starting to be asked on our sites as well. According to his HC he said he will, but I am going to contact a friend of mine, might be after the holidays, that is a NCAA compliance officer he at the university and see what he has to say.

I think if CDD could get Shanks and Kirven UT would pass on McCullers.

Good post and CDD would be wise to do so.

Appreciate your info, but I think you are wrong on the last sentence. I think we would take all 3. Wilcox is not a very active recruiter, but he has made numerous visits to McCullers. He really wants him so he can go multiple. I don't see Wilcox going hard after someone that in the end he passes on.

I would be very happy with this tradeout?

At the end of the day... Do we really have a chance at getting Shanks? I feel like this guy is FSU beyond and will play soon even though they are loaded with DT's. I'm sure FSU is feeding him a large helping of early PT just to get him on campus. Does anyone else feel the same way?
