I have inside info, he's going to be a Vol, we got lucky because he talked to the DT Fletcher Cox at Moo U and asked him was he going pro or not. If Cox is going to the NFL, he would go to Cowville, if he's staying he would sign with us. Cox told him he didn't know yet and that didn't sit well with Jacobs. He will fax in his LOI tomorrow morning to be a Vol

If that was the case pretty sure MSU coaches would have Cox lying through his teeth and saying he was going in order to get Jacobs. In reality, I actually thinks Cox will go pro, but it doesn't sound like he is announcing anything until after the Music City Bowl, which could be good for us.

Your prognosis makes perfect sense. It's a double edged sword honestly. If Cox ends up staying in Starkville, I don't know that we would use one of our last scholarships on Jacobs. We already have young quality depth at the position. We just don't have anyone else truly ready to start there next season. Another year of Cox would hopefully be enough to bridge the gap to our young guys, as true freshman 4* PJ Jones and redshirt freshman 4* Caleb Eulls showed promise this season and the talent in the signing class is well-known. We are building LSU/Bama depth at DT. That said, we are Mstate, and given our usual luck, Cox will declare for the draft, we will miss on Jacobs, and we will have growing pains at the position next year.

Cox is projected as a top five DT/DE (whatever position he plays). Pretty positive he will be declaring for the draft if that's the case.

That's the general consensus among State fans as well. If he goes, I wish him the best. Can't fault a guy that comes from rural Yazoo County, where the per capita income under $12k(which is actually a number inflated by the major farming operations) for leaving early to go change his family forever.

It has potential to be such a special d-line next season...that we're having trouble "letting him go" from a fan perspective. As a fanbase, we hold onto the glimmer of hope that Cox decides to return to play his senior year with Josh Boyd, who has started over 30 games next to Cox and will also be in the league. They were strong up the middle last year without a decent pass-rusher at wDE and a redshirt freshman at sDE. I can't help but believe that, barring injury, and assuming we actually get the fax, playing with Autry will drive both Cox and Boyd's draft stock even higher next season.

That said, I believe Cox goes pro...and we need to plug that hole. Jacobs fits that role, and he already has the chemistry with Autry to make him even more valuable to us in the immediate sense. I have no feel for what he is actually going to do in the matter, hence why I keep checking this post...:salute:

I'm not very concerned with Jacobs nor mcneil nor crawley. everyone seems to be freaking out mainly because Scout has the 3 list as soft verbals. And, it only says that because they're taking their visits.

I see no point in doing so. If he announces he is going to the school he has been committed to since July... well it seems pretty stupid to me. He would have to be desperate for attention to do so. I agree , he is gone.
