'12 JUCO DB Otis Jacobs (A&M signee)

Yes thats why I said a couple weeks ago. He will just make it public w/o a big ceremony imo

Knowing him he'll probably just send his papers in and never tell the outside world. Kind of refreshing to have a kid not get enamored with the media attention. But, a lot of JUCO kids who go D-1 then have to go JUCO are past the media circus of recruiting.

What don't you like? He breaks on the ball well, tackles well for a corner, has good size, and he's fast. And he's an EE. You think he's worse than Lanier when Lanier came out?

IDK. Can't put my thumb on it. He got ran down from behind a couple of times I remember. IDK, I just watched it and that's how I felt.

Any question about his fall semester grades? Sentimore that is

so with Jacobs, Autry and Setimore we are at 24, that's just one more spot for CP or a running back...

New article up on Otis....

"One school has jumped to the top of the list for Jacobs since Sherman has been fired. Tennessee has come after the 6-foot-1, 180-pound cornerback and it was all started by one of his teammates at the junior college."

"(Darrington) Sentimore told me about them. I had heard earlier from them but I committed to Texas A&M in the summer. After the coach got fired Sentimore told me about how they do stuff and it just went on from there," he said.'

"When asked what he'd have to see on his visit for him to sign with the Vols, he said it may not take much.

"I'm not really sure. Right now, I'm pretty sold on just what I've heard from Sentimore and Otha Peters. They've been up there and have told me a lot about it. But, for me to be sold I'd have to see the things they they've told me for myself," Jacobs said. "Pretty much, there's nothing really more that I think I should know except for the academic side of things. That would convince my mom, but as for me I'm pretty convinced. Because I've heard a lot about Tennessee."

Those are the two most telling quotes to me. Especially the one with Sentimore. That all but tells you he is a Vol as well

Bullock will be or may have already been asked to walk-on or grey shirt, so that will leave 2 spots. One spot for a RB...hopefully elite...and one spot for patterson, a big fish, or Cochran. Class finished!

When you're following blockers you aren't running as fast as you can. He's fast look at how he's breaking on balls. Watch him turn and run with the WRs. He's almost over running guys at times.

I see what you're saying. I just watched it again and feel better.

Another thing to notice is how the WRs never get seperation from him, he's running stride for stride.

That's all I was watching for. They let him press a couple of times and stayed right in the pocket of the WR. We don't have that right now on our team. Lanier is big but he's not real fast. Coleman has the tools but he's got to progress. I've been more patient with CTJ than anyone on this board I think but this is the year he has to prove he can coach DBs. He's got talent and experience back there now. Moore, Randolph, Coleman, Lanier, Jacobs, Orta, Waggner,Gray, and hopefully Mcneil. He'll have no excuses. The front seven won't be the problem this year.

Depends on injuries.

I don't think it's reasonable to count on Lathers with his injury history, which means our best linebackers will ALL be freshmen or sophs. We lose our most productive DT, and a valuable reserve DE in Martin. Smith and Walls have both had injury issues. Mo Couch has asthma. Still don't really know what we've got in Carson or Saulsberry.

Even bringing in three talented JUCOs as EEs, they're still new. We almost always assign too much hope to what they can do (Moore and Lanier will be BEASTS for us and start every game!!!!). If anyone gets hurt, the team in 2012 will still be leaning on freshman in the 2 deep.

Biggest thing with these juco players is that they are EEs. Sentimore is an impact player plain and simple. We'll know what we've got when the others get here. But we played with Daniel Hood at DT. They can't be less talented than Hood.

Yeah, EE and physical development of an extra year will make these guys instant impacts to the squad.

That's what I have been trying to say. The defense will be better, but it will be 13 before they really start dominating.

I agree about Sentimore, but I think we can agree that, say Mo Couch or Jacobs goes down, Hood gets nicked up, then we're seeing Corey Miller back at DT (I really hope he moves back to DE and fills the spot that Martin left)? Starting O'Brien? Saulsberry/Carson as a RS frosh/soph getting significant minutes?

I think these guys are probably talented and promising, but starting this many young players that are new to the program is a problem. That's how you get blown out in the second half in October against deep, talented teams like Bama.

Our defense can be good, but I'm not ready to say it won't be an issue. I need to see them be disruptive against a good Oline. Malik was our only lineman that consistently put pressure on an opposing offense. Couch has got to step up, Sentimore has got to make an impact, our ends have to make an enormous leap this year, our linebackers have to learn fast, and everyone HAS to stay healthy. That's a lot of contingencies.

All I want to do is see him play some press coverage. He tackles good so I want to see if he can play in WR's face. I can deal with a bunch of breakups I'm tired of not being able to at the least blitz but once or twice a half.

What you say. LOL. If we can find some corners to get in somebody's face, jam them and then turn and run with them, I might live at the bookie betting the unders in our game. Wait, a min... I already do. But, for different reasons. Smh. Thanks running game.

The Vols will be easy money early next season. Like they were at the beginning of this year. I'm ready for next season.

I already posted this once but for those questioning his speed, former Vol JJ McCleskey posts on VQ & works out w/ kids in La. He knows Otis Jacobs & said the kid runs a legit 4.3 & is a stud!

You can see that he's a true 4.3 guy in the video. There's a reason he gets away with playing so much off coverage. Plays a lot coverage wise like Antoine Winfield. He wont get a lot of picks but you won't get a lot of receptions on his side of the field.

Yeah but haven't you heard. He's only a 3* like Sentimore. Everyone knows you can't win championships with a team full of 3* players. You have been around much too long not to know this basic fact of college football. You ought to be ashamed of yourself.:birgits_giggle:

Not 3* guys like Taurean Poole.:eek:lol:

I had to do it.:)

Oh... and jmoore... Dooley CAN'T recruit. So many experts here have assured us of that fact that you have no excuse for pretending that he can.

Poole is now a former Vol. With all due respect for his devotion to UT... he is no longer relevant.

If's, but's, might have's.... are also not relevant.

I wish him nothing but the best. I hope he father's sons that are great RB's and Vols from birth. Short of that... the page has turned.
