There is a difference between an organization of historically oppressed and disadvantaged minorities that collectively work to promote causes that help out their constituency versus one created by the oppressors to continue it.

I realize that the majority, and those particularly antagonistic towards the minority groups, would want to oversimplify and claim that if one is "racist" then the other is, too, but that really does not account properly for the distinction between them.

Yeah, no. This is a failure of a post. Color of skin does not necessarily mean their ancestors were or were not oppressed.

That's the same stupid reasoning as, "Why isn't there a White Entertainment Network TV station?"

You ever been told you couldn't ride the same bus as someone else because of your skin color? Were you ever forced to eat in a different section of a restaurant because of your skin color? Were you told you couldn't go to the same school as everyone else because of your skin color?

Can you provide a link giving the range of time in the history of the US where, as a white person, you were a minority and discriminated against?

Case closed

Actually, I experienced quite a bit of that as a white kid growing up in Hawaii in the early 70s. Probably why I live in the inner city and have a multicultural family. Still a lot of people experience racism and prejudice, the CBC doesn't own the experience and I would suspect they work mostly to use our terrible racial history to their own political advantage. I certainly don't see them doing much to help my Black kids or neighbors.

Once the last person in the last generation that experienced segregation has died, will we then be past all this horsehockey?

Steve Cohen is jewish. Would you not consider them a "historically oppressed and disadvantaged minorit[y]"? So what then would be the grounds to deny him to help "promote causes" to fight the man?
