2012 will be Dooleys last year

Seriously? Dooley has a decent group coming in. I don't think he'll be the guy, but he gets canned, get plenty of decommits and are left with less than nothing two years after Kiffin. What recruit is going to want to come play for a program that's had 4 coaches in five years and hasn't won anything in 14 years? More over, what good coach is going to want to walk into that situation?

If Dooley gets summarily canned following this game, the period of irrelevance UT will go through will make Bama's slump look like a lunch break.

May never recover

We are going to suck long past 2012 if he gets canned. Like, MAYBE the Gator Bowl would be the high water mark in the span of the next decade.

Totally disagree. We've had two decent recruiting classes so there is some talent available for a new coach to do reasonably well. Far too many coaches have taken over down and out programs and turned them around with lesser or equal talent in their first or second year. Why waste any more time with giving Dooley more OJT. He's the worst coach I've seen in my 47 years of following the Vols. This guy make even Bill Battle look like a genius.

This!!

Its the only thing that I can hold on to.

He was dealt a bad hand, but todays lose was squarely on play calling by the OC.

Dooley will show improvement next year, but its hard to see after today.

next season all these "young" guys we'll be mostly upperclasmen, and experienced. we won't be able to hang with Alabama yet but we have to beat the Vandy's and Kentuckys and at least win one from UGA, Scar or Florida. if not Dooleys in some trouble, and so are we.

We'd suffer in the short term, but with a proven coach we could be back on track by '15. You'd be surprised what opening your checkbook and winning some games will do for you.

All that talent from the last two classes will bolt, and on top of that the combination of Dooley and Fulmer's buyouts will prevent us from hiring anybody better.

Canning Dooley right now cannot possibly end in any other way than UT becoming irrelevant and a .500 ball club for many years to come.

We WON'T GET a proven coach if he gets canned. We'd have to settle for somebody with the same credentials Dooley had coming in at best.

Nope, look at the schedule and look at the talent we have coming back and you may feel different.

We had more talent than Kentucky today, how'd that work out for us?

Had more talent than Vandy last week too, thankfully their QB threw 2 picks late in the game.

Strongly disagree....the only upside to keeping Dooley is finishing with a top 10 class, in which there is no guarantee he will be able to coach them up anyways.

I do believe there will be pressure from "management" on DD to evaluate his coaching staff, especially on the offensive side of the ball. It has been the biggest issue all year long, DD is going to have to show "management" he can be the boss... and address problem areas.

If I'm not mistaken, Dooley's buyout is huge right now and will drop significantly after next season, as well as Fulmer's wrapping up. We can't even afford a good new coach right now, even if we could get one (and we'd have to offer easily the largest contract in cfb to get anyone decent).

Again, this program will be bombed into mediocrity for a long, long, long time if Dooley gets canned right now.

I don't think he should be fired. I support UT but if I was Hart I'd start excepting resumes. We need to have someone ready to take over if worse comes to worst. We can't just stand around with our thumb up our a$$. But I hope everything works out for the best, for UT, Dooley, and the fans. Even with a loss like that we can't forget that Life Is Orange and White. GO VOLS.

If anyone doesn't think this is true you are...well......I don't think you very intelligent.

Dooley gets next year to prove himself. If he doesn't win 8 and gets fired...it may not be the silver lining everyone's looking for, it just means we're looking for another football coach.

With a coaching change we probably won't be keeping many of the good recruits who have committed next year. We also don't know that all of the players we have now would stick around.

This is what a lot of the posters fail to see.

He has to have at least 2012.

Nobody would take over this crap and they are kidding themselves if money would make the difference right now

Say we look like crap next year and he's fired. What is the upside of keeping him another year besides saving the class? There is no point in wasting another year.

Here's the way I see it. He got vastly outcoached by Joker Phillips (who's name is fitting since he's the laughing stock of the SEC). It's not like he's just gonna figure it out in the offseason and come out of the gates next year outcoaching Saban, Miles, Petrino, Richt, Spurrier, and Muschamp. Like I said in another thread... Let's just test the waters and see what's out there. Not do anything drastic. If anything it'll make the search easier after we can him next January.

Edit: Joker Phillips was the laughing stock of the SEC. I think it's fairly safe to say he's not anyomre.
