Penn State scandal (merged)

Definitely. Although IMO the FBI has probably been aware of this for some time and has likely been building a case.

I hope so; it would be nice to have facts compiled through an investigation that is independent of any affiliation or influence from Penn State. Should give an objective account of exactly what Paterno knew, when he knew it, exactly what he reported, and exactly how the AD responded to Paterno's report (basically, did the AD lie to Paterno as well and tell Paterno that the incident was investigated and no corroborating evidence was found).

Why do you thing the board fired JP?

Hell if I know. The reason(s) have not been announced only to say it was in the best interest of the school which is exactly why I said he should have resigned 3 days ago.

Look, Paterno was not fired because he didnt report the 2002 incident to the cops, he did report it to the AD and according to school bylaws thats exactly what he was supposed to do. Above everything else Paterno was, I'm quite sure, motivated to protect the school.

Oh, it will be very independent. The breadth and scope of a federal investigation is going to go way beyond what happened at Penn State. Like I posted earlier, Second Mile influenced over 390,000 youths in the state of PA in 2008. Not every one of them will have had contact with Sandusky or will have ever been to PSU campus. But I shudder to think how many of them could potentially have been abused along the way...

Yup. This is likely to be a Cecil B Demille production before its over..... epic.

So you think he should still be the coach?

IDK maybe the BoT wanted to see what would happen if they did. Would the students riot...and such things. IDK

This rabbit-hole is deep. Look at the information we already have, and it's only been two days. This will go down as easily the largest and most horrific scandal in the history of collegiate sports.

Are you saying pictures or videos of child porn is more important to the federal authorities than actual child rape?

Local authorities have jurisdiction over those matters. Feds only get involved in areas that violate federal statutes.

Most sexual abuse is covered under State statutes

That is not at all what he is saying. Child abuse, sexual assault, and the like is not a federal offense unless it involves the crossing of state lines, which in Sandusky's case, it very well might. Most times, though, it is a state charge. Child porn more quickly becomes a federal charge because it is often transmitted via the internet, which triggers interstate commerce.

My man!!

:good!:

Sandusky is said to be "destroyed" because of the firings at psu. Poor fella.
Sick piece of trash. What backwards ass, egotistical, psychological misfit **** has been going on up there?

I just hope Sandusky stays alive long enough to make it to jail. Lewisburg with any luck.

Now he feels bad huh?

Btw, is that Newhouse?

I say in a month, this situation will be much clearer. As it currently stands, there exists the Grand Jury Report, the statement from the Attorney General, and then heaps of speculation.

Facts will be easier to identify and individuate in a month or two.

Then your defense of JoePa will look even more idiotic than it does now.

Having been in this profession a long time and knowing how close coaching staffs are, I knew that this was a secret that was kept secret,” Switzer said. “Everyone on that staff had to have known, the ones that had been around a long time.”
