My first game was 1999 when Tennessee played Memphis.
Shew!! What a game! I thought for sure with a few minutes they had us beat & was getting ready to walk out mad! But with not much time left Tee Martin throws the deep ball and it was caught and Tennessee won.
Tennessee-17
Memphis-16
I'm not 100% sure it was my first game, but I remember the UT vs Rutgers game in 1979 (that was apparently the year, I had to look it up) -- I would have been eight years old and I went with my dad. UT must have scored easily at first, because I remember thinking we were going to blow Rutgers out and feeling sorry for them. Unfortunately, UT (ranked #17 at the time) lost to (unranked) Rutgers 7-13. I still think of that game anytime I begin to think that UT is going to blow another team out.
my first game was against Kentucky. not sure the year or anything that happened, but i believe it was the first year of the Tim Kerin food drive. or maybe he had just passed away. anbody know that year?
the first game i remember was the Notre Dame game in, i think, 1990 or 1991. i sat with mom in the ND section close to the top row in section B. we should have won that game.
Was '71 I believe against Ole Miss (homecoming game and Chuck Berry was playing a concert off campus that night) To preface, those were the hippie days and my hair was longer than the average bears. Walked from the concourse into the stands and was in awe of Neyland. There happened to be a couple of Knoxville's finest in the aisle about 10 rows down. They started up toward the exit where I was standing soaking in the scene and as they walked by me one of the boys in blue grabbed me by the arm and said "You're coming with us". Of course I said, What for. They said "you're drunk". Only problem with that is it was a 1:00 game and I hadn't had a drop to drink. Got to miss the game in the drunk tank at the KPD facilities, but got out in time to catch the Chuck Berry concert. Those were the days.eace2:
1985 - Auburn and Bo Jackson came in at No. 1 and Tennesse ended up on the cover of SI doing the Tennessee Waltz. The Vols put a big hurt on Bo and he did not even show up for he second half. It was my Freshman year at UT and my blood has run orange ever since.

mine was the ucla game in 85 up 16 with 5 minutes left and end up with the tie:sick:My first game was the 1985 game against then-#1 Auburn and Bo Jackson. Tony Robinson was on the cover of Sports Illustrated the next week. I sat three rows off the top of the stadium with my mom.
To this day, a tiny little irrational sliver of me still thinks that before he got hurt, Tony Robinson in 1985 was the best QB I've ever seen.
