Signing Day

Oh God, you just set "them" up to open the flood gates.:banghead2:
yeah, i guess i did, but this time it's a legit question going in to next season........replacing all three of them...three new guys with virtually no real experience...the development of the guys coming in along with the few that are already here is going to be important.

and let's be honest, player development is not a new topic here...it's been questionable for a long time.

if i'm the coaching staff, and i look around at what i have and what is on the way, i think this is a HUGE opportunity to make a big splash immediately.

i would hate to find out 5 games in that all the sudden one of these guys is now ready to play and steps on the scene and makes us all wonder...where was he 5 weeks ago???? that's when it gets frustrating.

but, like i said, i would view this as an opportunity big time.

well that works out well for you since he plays for us....lol.

I'd take Stafford because he is younger with a better arm, already has more experience and has shown dramatic improvement already. By my recollection, Crompton actually got worse over the course of his two games of experience.

On the talent of the recievers and their upcoming development. I would also remind everyone that TT is at the helm now and not Pat Washington. I may be wrong, but I believe that we shall positive progress in our recieving corp. Coach Taylor has shown he can coach where ever is placed.

I understand where you are coming from there but Stafford had a lot more time to develop over the course of the season, while Crompton was forced in against LSU and eventual west champ Arky.

True. Stafford wasn't exactly playing great towards the end of the year either.

I would have to disagree with you on that. He lead us to 3 wins consecutive wins over top 15 teams to finish the year. I would say he was playing pretty well at that point.

i'll say he got better.........but he wasn't exactly lighting it up either.

he does have a big arm. and i think at times that was his problem.

watching the Col, TN and even Auburn games....there were times he just needed to lay it in there, and he just fired it off like a rocket....

he needs more work, but i think Stafford will be just fine as he works thru this off season.

I dont think he was lighting it up but he was managing the team and avoiding turnovers. I think the problem earlier in the year was that he thought he could make every throw vs D1 competition and he found out real quick that this isnt hgh school. Another factor may have been that our receivers continuously dropped catchable balls, therefore I think he but more pressure on himself to make plays and ended up forcing throws. But he got out of that later in the year. I thought he was spectacular vs Auburn by the way. 14-20 for 219 with no int. Anyway I think he improves over the summer and next season. Watch out for him in 08. :)

Now it's up to our coaching to do everything in their power to ensure that we get average performance out of all these skilled kids.

i do agree wtih both of those. MM i thought was going to be poised to be a stand our WR in the SEC this past season, and i'd have to figure for GA fans he was a big disappointment in that department. he had some huge drops along the way.
