Texas A&M/SEC megamerge thread extravaganza

When a national sports business reporter suggests that A&M won't even bring enough money to the table to pay its own way, that's a flashing red light to me.

How is this possible?

Last thing we need is another Vandy.

They will be better than that, they do have the state of Texas to recruit within.

I can see them cycling up every so often to compete for the West but overall they will find it hard to tread water in the SEC.

They will have to get a better coach than the Shermantor to be competitive in the SEC. He took advantage of a down Longhorn team last year. He won't be fortunate enough to see a down LSU, down Auburn and down Alabama team in the same year.

They may be one notch above KY but if they cant beat Texas and Oklahoma for the BIG 12 then theres no way they will compete with Bama and LSU in the west, much less the SEC title! I would have put them below the barn but I think they will eventually get hit hard by the AA.

Hogs not going anywhere they left the SWC (Big 12) to come to the SEC. Oklahoma would probably be the best pick but they are tough year in/out. Think Missouri would be a good fit; need someone Vandy, Miss St, Ole Miss, & KY can beat. Don't know why NC wouldn't be a good fit, gives someone else for the SC, GA, KY, and TN neighbors to play.

Let's be fair to them....mizzou's been ranked the last what 4-5 seasons?'they'd likely stomp vandy and Kentucky

Unc wouldn't be a good fit because they laugh at the idea of an offer

Well, the same was said for ARK but they're improved and so has SC which used to be doormats. Being in the SEC becomes even more attractive for coaches and recruits so you get better at those institutions. Don't forget, things are cyclic, ups & downs. SEC expansion definitely will be having other schools/conferences' butts tightening up. LOL. What are they going to do to stay competitive with the SEC & conference big bucks?

True enough.

They will lose a lot of talent coming into ther first year in the SEC.

Vandy moves west and auburn & Alabama moves east

This...

Best option in order to preserve UT and Bama's traditional rivalries. UT's crossover game becomes Vandy, Bama can still play both UT and the Barn every year, crossover with LSU.

OTOH, murderer's row division.

UGGGGGGGG!! What a cluster **** this could be!!

Meh not a big deal. I think people overrate the name needing to match the geography

Wouldn't really mind ole miss in our division....something oddly appealing about UT playing them each year (actually don't mind miss St that much more either)

I see the Arkansas argument, they have a great coach and some very good players as for USCe, thier banner year included 5 losses, they are still a doormat program as far as I'm concerned, one or two years being relevant means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Ok, I think if A&M joins the SEC, we need to give someone the boot to stay at 12 teams. My vote is to get rid of Arkansas - send them back to the SWAC - oops, I mean the Big 12 (10, 9 whatever it is now...)

well if MO is seriously on the table then why not go with Hawaii - put them in the SEC east - how about that for a road trip every other year

i'd still like a school that upgrades bball so in order of preference

1) UNC
2) Lville

I also think that it won't necessarily break up east vs west and we may as well not think too much about it as I don't think A&M will be the only big 12 to bounce - we may go to 16 right away as opposed to just adding 1 more - we shall see

So let me get this straight everyone wants

Florida
Tennessee
Bama
Georgia
Auburn
Kentucky
SC In the same division while th West is

Ark
A&M
Lsu
Mizzou
Vandy
Ole miss
Miss ST I dunno about you but thats is about the dumbest s*it I have ever heard have you guys lost it? Talk about loading one side so we can play Bama every year? The hell with that and if our Ad's and Presidents have any sense they wouldn't go for that either.

Really?

Not happening, no chance.

If you were to get rid of anyone, it would have to be Vandy.

Mizzou used to be noted as the giant killers for pulling off unbelievable upsets--long history there. Yeah, and you're right, now they would burn Vandy & KY. I don't care what SEC team you are you've got your work cut out for you every year--tough, tough, tough. However, those that survive win the golden goose most of the time. And, it's not just the same team every year dominating either.

This wouldnt be bad but I was referring to adding, rearranging teams period. I love the SEC the way it is, I think this super conference crap isnt gonna be as glamorous as some think.

Too bad nobody is considering basketball in this expansion, all about money, football=money.

Kennesaw State gets a Football program in 2013, just saying, haha.

Honestly, VT would be my personal pick.
