'12 NC OT D.J. Humphries

So you think a 6'5" 265lbs OT starts in the SEC? Cool story.

He will probably redshirt. That's not an insult to the kid. A redshirt year will probably benefit him. As a UT fan, I just wish we could have beat UF for a top 10 recruit. Do we need OLs like UF? Absolutely not.

He'll have a year to add more weight and muscle.

The questions about his size and readiness to start day 1 in the SEC were posed well before he committed to UF. That isn't sour grapes. That isn't dogging him. The kid will be great. His frame will take the weight and he has the arms, feet, and athleticism to get it done.

Funny how since we don't land this kid we talk of him not being able to start in the SEC. Kid will probably add 20-25 pounds and start day one at UF with there depth. Best of luck to DJ, if we can pull out a win in Gainesville maybe he will consider flipping.

This talk has existed for a while. He won't start day 1 at UF. They are better stocked than you think.

Great tune!

Thanks I like that! GBO VFL!:good!:

The only problem I have is he stated that he has silently been recruiting for the Gators for a while..How many times has he visited spreading venom to other recruits..If he knew since March he would be a Gator what has he been saying for the past 5 months...

True dat. Right now he'd be on the bench beside Chaz Green. He obviously has loads of upside.

I was looking at some of the scoring on ESPN's recruiting site.

DJ has a score of 85. That is the lowest score I could find for a 5 star OT going back to about 2006. Antonio Richardson scored an 81 as a 4 star and personally (as if anyone gave a flip) I wouldn't trade the two regardless of star rank. Andre Smith (former star OT from Alabama) although a 1st round NFL bust at this point scored a 93 and of course he was a great college player. That kind of score deserves quite a bit of respect. Not trying to trash the DJ because I think there's a decent chance that we still sign him and we'd all be tickled but "just sayin" DJ ain't the next Ogden, Boselli, or Munoz. The best OT in a weaker group than most by comparison. Still love to have him.

Well I was wrong on DJ and Santos!!! I am actually happier it worked out this way. I really thought DJ was going to be a VOL, best of luck to him at UF.

They seem to have lowered their rankings on all players over the past couple of years

As they should have. Their scoring is out of 100. Rating a guy at 90+ doesn't leave a lot of room for error. I mean, that's rating a guy near perfect for his position. It's not realistic.

Agree. I think they should do this to a lesser extent on their basketball recruiting as well

Might as well keep basketball the same. Not like they stick around long enough to see their full potential.

Yeah but I think they should reserve the 99s for once every decade type players. That's really my only problem with it

==========================

EBerry was only 90, and he was (is) perfect.

DJ passed on the opportunity to be part of a truly great O-line at Tennessee, coached by the best...for a promise of early playing time and individual importance at Florida. Maybe he bought a con job, or maybe he just wanted to go further from home. Lose, lose.
