You know who really blew it? Andruw Jones.

If he didn't get fat and lazy, he would have been a HOF.

He averaged 34 homers and 101 RBI's for ten years. Had a .268/.346/.506 line and one of the greatest defensive players ever. He only need two or three more years like that and he would have been a HOF.

I agree they should. Just don't they will. You think 3/4 baseball writers will say "Who cares about steroids, he deserves to be in"? Cause I don't think so.

Andruw for sure blew his chance. He was ridiculous back in his prime.

I think guys that were on the fringe of being the best players of that era will miss out, probably deservedly so.

If the steroid era did nothing, it put Don Pedro in the running for the Ace of the all time rotation, with Koufax, Big Train, Silver King, and Mathewson.

You can't remove a player who was linked to steroids because it is unbeknownst to how many of them faced opposing players who never got caught.

And the writers, for the most part, can go eat dynamite.

Even though his line wasn't great, his defense made up for it.

I remember my dad saying "You know why Andruw is never in the top ten plays? Because he makes all of them so easily."

That 2005 season he has was nasty. He carried that team.

Mathewson pitched in the dead ball era, and Big Train pitched in a white only league. Not doubting there greatness, but how can you list them but not Maddux?

He's definitely a legend. But if I absolutely have to win a game 162 times, I look to the aforementioned list.

I'm a huge Maddux fan, but he just didn't have dominant stuff like those guys. He'd be hard to take over guys like Gibson, Tiant, Feller, Spahn, Clemens, Halladay, Carlton etc. If you're going to use a couple seasons, why not Denny McLain?

I understand what you are saying. And I understand that Mad Dog didn't have the stuff of legends. But what he did (along with Pedro) in the steroid era, to me, put's him in there.
