Goodbye Oregon Football

NCAA bylaw 13.02.14, criteria for a booster or "representative of the institution’s athletics interests"

At the time he had been paid for his services, then Lyles could no longer have contact with any recruit nor suggest visits to Oregon.

Further, NCAA bylaw 13.1.2, which defines a "permissible recruiter"

The hand written letters from Kelly and Osbourne suggest that Lyles was an important recruiter for Oregon when it came to Seastrunk and others. This has gone on since Kelly was OC.

I've got too much time on my hands

If what Lyles said is true, then no matter how many ways you want to cut it, make excuses for it, or try to explain it away, sounds a whole lot like the University of Oregon wrote a check to pay for an agent to make sure players went to the school, and that's a whole bunch worse. Again, if it's all true and Lyles is really telling the truth, this isn't some booster on the periphery handing over a bag of cash. This is a school, for all intents and purposes, paying to get players.

I think its just a matter of who broke the story.IMO ESPN does little in the way of investigative reporting.

Be very concerned Duck Nation. Oregon is in line for major penalties, the kind that burn a program to the ground. USC-like. Kelly's job could be in jeopardy. This is not USC looking the other way while Reggie Bush took money, this is a willful attempt to gain a recruiting and competitive advantage.

Although Lyles hasn’t yet discussed with the NCAA the things he told Yahoo, the investigators had already reached out by Friday afternoon, wanting a follow-up interview.

It's like gibbs on speed. And ecstasy. And heroine. And PCP. All topped off with everclear

The Ducks entire fanbase more or less consists of people like the guy in the article, or people who will either go back to being Beaver fans or ambivalent about college football once UofO gets knocked back to mediocrity.

Damn hippies

Not really. The hippy students at UofO still either don't care about the game, or only go for the party if they do go. Plenty of halfway decent studentfolk at the university. It's the legions of people with absolutely no connection to the school other than a shared state of residence that are unbearable.
