Phil is interested...

I, for one, agree with the OP. A lot of idiots on this board with oversized egos and opinions who have never in their life played college athletics.

Ask ANYONE who has wore the Power T who they would choose. I'll take their opinions over the haters on this board any day.

Hide behind your keyboards and beer bellies Fulmer-haters.

So football players should get to pick the next AD?

Sounds good. They have done such a good job handling things like their own finances and negotiations with the NFL.

I know a lot of Vol ballplayers and it ain't the Mensa society, to be kind.

Coach Fulmer's love for the university is without question. His most admirable quality as the "man in charge" was his loyalty. Sometimes a CEO has to make tough decisions reguarding their employees and coach Fulmer had a hard time making those decisions.

Kiffin? Urban Meyer? Ron Zook?

The bottom of my list of candidates to be the next AD:

4,673 - Satan
4,674 - Nancy Pelosi
4,675 - Tim Tebow
4,676 - Lane Kiffin
4,677 - Tennessee disbands all athletic departments and programs
4,678 - Phil Fulmer

Although I don't hold any grudge against Fulmer probably because of all the years I pulled for the Vols, all the long trips, all the heart breaking losses, to finally win the National Championship was nice. That said, remember Mike Hamilton had an MBA from Clemson and I just don't think Fulmer has the qualifications from a business standpoint to see the big picture.I guess I'm one of a handful that thinks you really need to have education coupled with experience to do the job properly.Besides, if he still has anomosity lingering from being fired, it could make it harder on a coach.

I wish everybody was that rational about the situation.

Hell, give Battle a shot! The man has made some serious bank since his departure.

It takes quite a bit more than just a love for Tennessee.

Exactly. I love Tennesses. Hire me if you want the program ran into the dirt like Fulmer would do, at a fraction of his salary.

The fact that Fulmer is even publicly lobbying for the job shows his lack of decision making ability. Do you really want someone with such a poor decision making process running a multimillion dollar organization?

Phil is definitely not the person for the job. Love for the Vols? Sure.
My problem with him isn't even his ability to know when it's time to let someone go. My problem is that when he finally did he couldn't replace them with a better person. He couldn't upgrade correctly. Whether that was because he wanted too much control or just couldn't pick a leader is a moot point. The point is he failed or we wouldn't even be talking about him in the past tense.

I appreciate his time here but let's move on.

Thanks for posting this and demonstrating the absolute nonsense spouted by the GoF and their acolytes.

Putting Lane Kiffin above Phil Fulmer in this ranking is treason. I am becoming more in favor of Phil as AD the more I see you internet heroes. Please, find a bandwagon to jump on. Or go search for Atlantis. Fantasy seems to be soup du jour.

Fantasy is clearly in today. Look how much better he got after we fired him. Hell, 9 wins and New Years games were givens.

How will Phil handle not getting the job and being burned twice by his university? He is setting himself up by even having interest in the job. I wonder whose fault it will be this time around?

Well its good that u think joe paterno is a horrible coach u are probaly the only person in america

Since when is loving a company a requirement for getting a job with said company. That is just stupid.

"We can't hire you unless we know you love our company...here...put your hands on this love meter".

If we want someone who truly loves Tennessee, then we hire Fulmer as the new AD. If we can hire someone that left for our enemy as AD(Dickey), then we surely can hire someone that loves the university as much as Coach Fulmer does.
Spock would vote for Fulmer too. Seems logical.

What Fulmer loves about the University of Tennessee is the $6,000,000.00 buyout he got for destroying the football program.
