pretty simple. he agreed to go there and follow their rules. it's really not so hard to use a rubber and not get caught.

I don't know why everyone is making a big deal about this. He knew of the rules before he got into school, and he chose that school anyways. Just because he's a basketball player doesn't allow him to break rules that the whole student body is held to. I went to a Christian University that had 4 of the better basketball players kicked off after being found with alcohol. We were on our way to the NAIA tournament and because of the loss of these players, struggled at the end and didn't make it. Rules are rules, and it's commendable that BYU and other universities stick to their guns and enforce the rules. If you don't like the rules, don't go there.

Yeah, it's boring for most college students, but those that are fine with following the code love BYU. I got tired of it after 3 semesters, but I did really enjoy certain things about the school. It's diverse in the fact that kids from all over the country and world go there, not like a regional state school. My best friends were from all over, and that was fun and interesting to me.

I don't agree with some of Mormonism. That being said, if you agree to go to the school you should not complain when you break the rules.

On another note, the jokes are pretty childish. If it was about black people, gays, or Christianity, a mod would have removed them.

There are still small sects around the four corners region that do.

Either way, I don't see why this is a big story. It's pretty simple. When you go to any BYU campus, they make it very plain that you have to abide by a certain set of rules or you can get kicked out. Davies broke a rule, he's out. It happens with the LDS.

I know a lot of people disagree with how the LDS does things and their viewpoints, but it's their denomination and they can run it how they see fit.

The prophets did?

I know the kings did....and Abraham and the other patriarchs of Israel did.....but I can also point to various places in the law that says not to have more than one. Most of the times the multiple wives were what led to the problems arising in Israel, esp with David and Solomon.

They have a code to which the students are to conform, the kid broke the code he had accepted, and they stood by said code. I don't see the reason for anyone to be outraged.

Personally I think it's a breath of fresh air, compared to having felons stick around until the legal system runs it course.

I can see both sides. Did BYU make full disclosure of the rules and consequences? Who knows? If I were him, I would be calling a lawyer

Lawyers ain't gonna help him here. There's no judge, jury and trial with the LDS. They don't operate like that, getting kicked out of school there is more akin to being excommunicated from a church (a relatively common occurrence with them) than anything.

My guess is it was something small, because IIRC he is still enrolled. Something like premarital he would have been permanently expelled.

Well at least you found something you liked about it. Correct me if I'm wrong but they don't let interacial couples date at BYU do they?
