Trooper and former players recruiting against vols?

Um yeah. If that's true there are violations aplenty. Not that will be anything that comes of it.

Coaches are allowed one phone per recruit from Midnight Saturday until NSD is over. Recruits can call coaches every 5 minutes during that period.

I can guarantee you, our staff was calling Dawson, Wright, jernigan, Mackey and plenty of others during same period

I thought that there was rule about celeberity contact to recruits on behalf of the university in general. My understanding was it doesn't matter if you were alumni or not, you can't contact on behalf of a university as their agent.

Also, you mentioned that recruits can call coaches as often as they want during no-contact before NSD but coaches can only call once. What happens if a recurit leaves a message to call him back, and the coach already called him once? Can he then return the call?

no on call back. if there is a celebraty rule, I've never heard of it

The overwhelming majority of football players are done after the fall semester of their senior year.

Most graduate in the fall and start training for the combine/tryouts.

So technically, even if GJ is "on scholarship" there's a very good chance he's not been in Knoxville since the bowl practices moved to Nashville

Do we know he graduated? And if he did not, isn't that a violation?

If GJ did do this then he should never be allowed back near the campus.Its not like hes going to the NFL or anything.

Dude, those were also Ahab's last words.

If he ain't VFL, f--- him. Cut the damn whale loose.

Very very interesting information, the gist of which makes perfect sense;
Trooper is a low down dirt bag and GJ cant get away from UT quick enough;
Trooper used GJ to seal the deal with Gabe; Gabe got played too which means he really doesnt have much character or sense

Coaches will routinely call a recruit, let it ring once, and then hang up. Since the two parties didn't talk, this doesn't count. The recruit will call the coach back upon seeing he had a missed call. All programs do something similar to this.

there was no violation committed. If GJ talking to a recruit is a violation, it happens all the time at every school. Recruits visit and they swap cell phone numbers with players on the team. They become friends and talk all the time on phone, swap text messages and even facebook messages. This no violation and if it was the NCAA could penalize every school.

Its no different than me havin my friends in my cell phone address book and talking to them.

People looking for a violation are dreaming IMO

To paraphrase the modern philosopher, Mr Miyagi: Either you "UT yes" or you "UT no". You "UT guess so" get squish just like grape.

Post 321 says Trooper called Gabe to ask about decision--this would have to be Auburn's one phone call, correct? Then it said Trooper visited Gabe and gave him the "Nick Who?" hat. Illegal contact--right?

I'm not saying this is proof of illegal recruiting practices. But there is smoke.

hopefully we're not wishing to get a recruit who would turn on a commitment because 1person said something bad about Tennessee.. probably wouldn't last in the program and we wouldn't want him anyway

believe in THE PROCESS

Gullibility does not translate into being a bad football player. Eighteen year olds make illogical decisions all the time. Trooper was preying on that.

I looked into because I remembered a story about something with Iowa athletics and Ashton Kutcher. Its not a celebrity rule per se, but it is the general no contact rules regarding individuals who represent a University's interests.

It was enough of an issue that Iowa self reported two unintentional Secondaries for two recruits meeting, taking pictures with Kutcher and Demi Moore at an Iowa basketball game.
