Even GWB had more specifics - this was a vague "let's do something" speech.
Reminiscent of the City on the Hill.
America is the best.
We do big things.
Maybe the inner IR is coming out of me, but this seems like something RR, GWB, or WW would craft.
More of a motivation speech (What Obama is good at) rather than any details.
Why would I want to do that? I simply said some parents think an insult = a challenge. Not that they should meet in a parking lot.
Here's where I disagree. I think the content was as you suggest but he did not sell that a single bit. The junior-psychologist in me would say that he did buy what he was selling.
RR believed it. I think this was political expediency that didn't match political ideology.
