'11 MS JUCO DB Izauea Lanier (Tennessee Commit)

Agreed. We want Lanier at CB, and Moore at S. We will take both if given the opportunity.

Thought we wanted them both at corner.. Moore being a potential shutdown corner.. Maybe I got it wrong though.

IMO I think were wanting both at CB, with Moore being able to move between CB & SS. Brewer is going to get bigger & have the playbook better by next season, & Jackson is to good at FS to move to CB.

True. What about Waggner though? He's been pretty impressive since he moved back to CB.

He will stay at CB, if the staff can land Lanier & Moore I could see them starting with Gordon, Teague, Evans, & Waggner backing them up. You would still have Tino Thomas, Coleman, Ny Oliver, & A. Anderson

At S you would have Jackson & Brewer starting with Randolph, Martin backing them up & having Moore & Waggner still having the ability to move back there incase of injuries.

I doubt that.

Does CDD call you for his pre-game walkthroughs too?

I doubt that.

Why? Lanier is an EE & will get plenty of time to learn the PB. He is a bigger CB than any of those. & if we were to land Moore he would more than likely start somehwere on D from Day 1, his talent is undeniable.

jmoore I respect your opinions on here but I would never say you were wrong just because I disagree.

Again, I don't think we will get both nor do I think we would take both. We have other depth issues to address on this team. With the commitments of Coleman, Thomas, Martin, and Randolph the defensive backfield will be fine. Not to mention the possibility of Loften and/or Dixon.

So, why not take a player at another position, like the defensive line or a linebacker?

They're JUCOs. Unlike most on here, I don't expect every JUCO to come in and start on day one. Chances of both staring from day one are slim. People are also selling our current corners talents very short IMO.

Also, him being bigger than our current corners doesn't make much a difference. Chances are he isn't even 6'1.

Hubbs has been asked this numerous times & every time he said the staff wants both & would take both in a New York minute.

Loften isnt a guarantee of getting in & they already passed on Dixon. I dont think they will land Moore but if he wanted to sign here on NSD they would take him & not think twice about it. He would be an immediate impact player on D from day 1.

Gordon still has his flaws & is still learning how to play the position, Teague had an injury & still needs experience, Evans isnt a guarantee to be back next year, & Anderson only saw the field in mop up duty. Lanier would have alot better shot at playing time than any of the other commitments coming in.

We would take 2 if it were the right 2. If we got Lanier then Marcus or Moore wanted to come the staff would take another one.

Gordon has flaws, but he's just as talented as Lanier. I'll also take a year of playing the position in the SEC over a year of JUCO for experience. I'm sure he'll play more than Tino or Coleman. He might even start, I'm just not banking on it.

I see both sides of this, Im sure we want Moore and Lanier but with six spots left do we have the room. Obviously the coaches have more insight about how they can oversign, etc.so we'll see but Clear, Richardson, Jackson, Wright, Dawson and 1 cb is six and I think Pagan and a rb are more priority then a second cb.

I know there has been alot of talk about room, grayshirting, backcounting ect.. & I'll admit I've been caught up in talking about it but I guarantee the staff knows exactly what they are doing. They will take the best players available & find a way to get them on campus. We can talk about it all we want but it will work itself out.

If Teague keeps improving like he has been and we signed both Lanier and Moore (provided they're as good as advertised), we'd have a group of Teague, Waggner, Lanier, and Moore among which it's really hard to let anybody sit. And that's without even mentioning Gordon, who has plenty of potential. Good problem to have.

:good!:

we need 2 te's and rome and clear are the impact players we need. I have always thought jc players competition is less than miami, lauderdale, wpb

I think (and hope) you're right. I don't see how it happens, but if there's a loophole, our lawyer will find it.

I doubt that.

I agree with you chavis. Teague and Gordon get unfairly criticized. I could see Moore cracking the starting line up, but I think Lanier would be fighting for the nickel spot IMO. I think if we get Lanier and not Moore then Lanier is the nickel.
