'11 MS JUCO DB Izauea Lanier (Tennessee Commit)

Eric Gordon is gonna be a player. Most physical corner on roster right now.

Everybody is ragging because I said Gordon is going to get recruited over. He's an okay young prospect but his coverage skills are terrible at times. Example: Ole Miss game he should have been scored on more than once but Masoli sucks. He's got a whole lot to learn. I also maybe a lot harder on him since Dooley pumped him up in preseason.

Yes, he has a lot to learn...how is that any different than 90% of RS Fr?

The whole defense looked bad at times all year. I think being undersized at dt most of the time has caused other problems. Qbs had all day to throw at times on ut's d.

RS freshman with a new DC.... people keep forgeting that this staff is not the same as last years. Could be why Askew is having trouble learning everything. Its new to everybody, just give them time it will come

I think Gordon is going to be a straight baller. Kid has alotta ball left to play.
You missed the memo. Dude has reached his peak as a RS Frosh and will be relegated to STs next year....if he works real hard and wants it he my see some action in nickel mop up duty.

People tend to forget that in good, stable programs red-shirt freshman don't usually start. The one bright side to our unfortunate situation the last couple of years is that alot of these 18 and 19 year olds are getting solid SEC 'on the job' training that can only result in great things in the forseeable future.

...and remember back to statements that GJ made about this kid in fall camp, that he is an angry hitter, and seems to hold a grudge out on the field. We will love him before he leaves UT, book it.

Who said he's reached his peak? I've seen guys in HS not make the simple coverage mistakes he is making at times. He can improve no doubt but the jury is out on Gordon. He does play tough though I will say that.

False. If this is your take of Gordon, a RS freshmen, then I would recommend stop watching CFB.

I think that will be hard to do.

Gordon is an exceptionally physical corner. That's hard to find.

They will not be recruiting over Gordon. EG will be a staple back there for the next 3 seasons.

It's amazing to me there are actually people out there that aren't impressed with what that kid showed as a freshman corner starting in the SEC. Plus he improved every single game.

I think some people are letting the punt return issues cloud their opinion of him as a CB

LOL I wondered the same thing. Again, some in this fanbase have totally unrealistic expectations for freshman. What he did this year at corner was outstanding for a freshman in this league. Plus he got better and better as the season went along.

Freshman dont just step on to campus in the SEC and play like a mature junior and senior from the get-go. It's unbelievable to me that people actually expect that.

Janzen Jackson had a TON of busts this year, a ton.. to your point...

You speak the absolute truth.

most fans just don't realize, it is harder to win games with freshmen and sophomores. You can win some (like 6) but if you want to win 10,11 or 12 you need a lot of juniors and seniors that can play and ahve already played a lot...

winning 10 games in 2004 had a lot more to do with junior & senior RBs that rushed for a 1000 each and 2 senior WRs that started than the freshmen QBs.
