I mean, I'm a student and I don't like chants like that. But, like others have said, students all over the country do it. And, honestly, how would you even begin to stop that? I personally saw people thrown out for it, but the chant started again soon after. Like I said, these are drunk college students you're talking about. There is no way that you can stop them from doing it unless you don't let them into the stadium to begin with.

just show some civility. classless, childish, silly, and embarrassing - but what more should i expect from the student section.

QUESTION: how does bama fans end up in the ut student section?

I'm sorry that your edumacation stopped after the 5th grade. It was a different time.

It's still SEC football at the end of the day and it is still a nasty rivalry. I agree, show class, but I think this argument goes somewhat hand in hand with the old people sitting down during games. The hatred of each other is partially what makes up the rivalry game

no you can't stop it other than having them demonstrate restraint and class.

So you're bent out of shape over a word and think that somehow it makes us less classy? How does uttering a word make one any less classy?

What if they said "screw" instead? Would that have made a difference and why?

I'm sorry, if you don't care for my language, that's your problem -- not mine. As others have said, get over it.

surething, not saying it's classy but this is common at universities by students. When I was at UT and listening to bands that played Sweet Home Alabama, everyone would replace the first 2 words w FU. Lighten up a little bit, they are just kids being kids

The first ever Tennessee-Alabama game wasn't civil. Why should the 93rd be?

If Tennessee keeps playing like this the chant is going to turn into F-you Dooley very soon... that is just the common consensus from students

one word sums it us - class

obviously this is not an issue with people, but it still is needed and last night the ut student section where anything but classy. the truth is the truth, sorry, deal with it.

Quite frankly if you're an adult and have been hyper-sheltered your entire life I don't know why you'd find this truly offensive. The only conceivable reason you'd think it was unacceptable is if you had kids at the game, in which case you're just not very bright. If you bring your kids to a college sporting event at night against said team's biggest rival with a crowd that has probably been pre-gaming for hours then your kids get to hear what they hear. It's your responsibility to make sure your kid isn't emotionally scarred by an easily avoided situation, not the crowd's.

As far as classless--it's not like they started throwing urine bombs. The students just let some unruly bama fans know what they thought about them. If you didn't want to yell F-U Bama, you were welcomed to not participate in the activity. Grow up, please.

Send UT a text next time and get the whole student section removed, that will show those young whipper-snappers.

Not any worse than the Bama fans singing, "F*** you Rocky Top, go to Hell Tennessee" every time the Pride played Rocky Top.

If I were you I would never go to another game.

You werent in the student section and you didnt see what some jack*** bama fans were doing to make that chant start. Next time we'll just let bama fans be a-holes and invite them to tea and crumpets after the game, sorry.

Pardon me Monsieur Redneck Alabama Fan......you wouldn't happen to have any Grey Poupon perhaps?

You and the rest of society has gotten so damn uptight. Stay at home, sit down and watch the game on tv and while you're at, mute the tv so you are not offended

Ok, this is my take on it as a student.

We are in college during the worst period of UT football in recent history. We arent going to games to watch us contend for championships, we are going to games and watching us get slaughtered most weeks. But, yet, we show up and try to get rowdy. We have to pay for tickets now, to watch this team play. But, yet, we show up and try to get rowdy. We have some ignorant, classless Bama fans in OUR student section starting stuff and we stick up for our school.

But, yet, we are classless. If we dont come to games we are horrible fans, if we come to games and arent going crazy, we are horrible fans. What do you want from us? This is a completely irrelevant post by the OP and if it bothers you that much dont come to the games anymore. I will be there supporting this team no matter what
