The official Oregon Ducks thread (merged)

Oregon is going to get steamrolled if they play Bama or the 'Barn in the national championship. Unfortunately, I don't think that's going to happen.

Auburn has a pathetic D.

It would be a 73 - 66 ball game.

Alabama has an elite D and the kind of O that would keep James and company on the sidelines.

:eek:lol:
when? maybe 20 years ago if that.
this is a foolish, self-given title (like cowboys being americas team)

only matters to big 10 and pac 10 teams.
how can it be the biggest bowl if only 21 teams have a chance to play there?
Let them have it... It was historically the greatest of bowl games. Nostalgia is nice.

I'm feeling Barkley's stat line for Oregon will read something like Luck's... 300-350 yards, 2-3 TD's and a pick or two. Oregon's defense isn't fast but they overcome it by being able to play the ball well and create some turnovers. Oregon is tied with Florida and Alabama at #1 in interceptions made this year. They are also top ten in sacks.

It will be a shootout for most of the first half, then as soon as one turnover happens, it will turn into a USC curbstomping.

If Arizona can get Nick Foles back in time for Stanford, they can absolutely give Oregon a game.

What was I thinking? My bad.

Either way, I'm not really sure about the SEC's chances to field a team in the BCSNCG.

I think Bama is the only one that wont lose from here on out, personally.

Have to see how the chips fall elsewhere but it doesnt look like a layup for the SEC to get someone in.

I'm with you. Bama will beat Auburn at home, and get a lot of help if they can face USCjr in the SECCG and win again.

Still, Oregon, Oklahoma or even Michigan State is going to have to lose.

Nice, droski. Saban's starting to gameplan for the Ducks in two weekends?

SEC fans better be paying a lot of attention to what happens in Evanston and Columbia tomorrow.

this is the game i want to see. How crazy and entertaining would this be. Non stop action.

This seems like the type of game where everyone is excited and expecting a shootout, but both teams spend the 4 weeks they have prepping the defense as much as possible, and the game is a total letdown.

are you still on this "alabama is the team of the century" bandwagon. Hey take of you crimson shaded glasses. Alabama has been exposed. They have a weak secondary and a qb that cant handle pressure. They are are going to lose again.

A road loss against a good team that had two weeks to prepare for them doesn't exactly 'expose' Alabama.

They're still the best team in the country.

Auburn-Oregon would probably be 50-40 kinda score no matter who wins. I do think that for UO to win that game they would have to throw a lot more than they do. AUs main defensive weakness is pass coverage. AUs def is deeper and faster than the Vols. Remember we did a pretty good job of slowing the off down till depth became an issue. I dont think OU has a snowballs chance of stopping Cam in a OU-AU game. It would be interesting to watch. Oregon-Bama would be Oklahoma-UF all over again.

You mean the other horrible teams they ran the score up on outside of Standford?

I love the "run up the score" argument.

How, exactly, does a team wind up guilty of running up the score when 2nd, 3rd and 4th stringers are playing?

Against New Mexico, for example, we went through our entire QB Depth Chart and actually started letting our 4th string RB who entered into the game that day listed as a RB play as QB. And yeah, he scored a TD... And suddenly we're guilty of running up the score.

What are we supposed to do? Take a knee for 2 quarters? Punt on 1st down?

If alabama was a great team they would have beaten south carolina when they had the ball down 7. At the very least they would have come out obliterated ole miss after that embarrassing performance. Who has alabama beaten? the best team they have played is south carolina and they got beat by 2 tds.

Losing by 2 tds to anyone when you are supposedly this all time great team with this iron will. Thats getting exposed. But even moreso the way they played against miss after that embarrassment.

I actually agree with BOP1. Alabama didn't look that great against Ole Miss. They're still a top 5 team, though.

Fact is, we're undefeated and we've looked impressive week in and week out. I'll be enjoying the ride despite what the detractors say, thank you very much.

...We threw for 312 yards yesterday and we barely threw for the last 25 minutes of the game.

Yeah, but we're capable of throwing it. Very capable.

I will withhold judgement till you guys actually play somebody with more than half a def. But that's probably not gonna happen. I personally wasn't impressed from what I saw against us. Take out the one busted freak play that shoud have been a 10 yard loss, and the punt return and int and you guys didn't exactly light us up. Oregon IS a good off (a great off against weak defs). I don't think you would score more than 21 against Bama or LSU. AU on the other hand is not a complete def.

Oregon: 72.
Auburn: 70.

:p

The funny thing is I might not be that far off...

I hate this crap lousy, no defense version of arena football teams are playing now. The Pac 10 is like the big 12. A bunch of overhyped, unsound, no defense playing teams.
