My daughter lives in Wisconsin. She graduated from UT and is friends with Jackie Pearl, Bruce's daughter. She's eaten dinner at the Pearl home in Knoxville, so she knows Jackie really well. At a bar in Wisconsin (Bruce previously coached at Milwaukee) believe it or not the subject of Pearl leaving UT for Iowa or another job came up. My daughter promptly texted Jackie and asked her. The reply came back, "No way. Dad loves it here." People should quit being so paranoid. A man doesn't build a basketball program at a major school which didn't have one ... and then walk away. Are UT fans so insecure about basketball that they can't handle success?

I think if it wasn't for Kiff spurning us like he did there would be a whole lot less speculation of Pearl leaving. At this point he and Pat are the only proven successful coaches we have, and would prefer to keep them

Most of the posters' daughters aren't friends with Jackie so how could they know?

Lane Kiffin destroyed our trust in coaches. Not saying CBP will pull a Lane Kiffin, but we didn't think he would leave either...Sorry I mentioned the name, but imho, it's true. I think he will stay though. I believe Mike Hamilton is willing to shell out cash to keep him here.

You remembered! So I missed a stat. I know they can beat our defense down the floor after Hopson missed what was probably a game-winning free throw.

Missed a stat? It's an Izzo coached MSU team.

Actually, I thought a friend mislead you. Shows what that friend knows.

Exactly, and its not like we are a emotionally stable bunch anyway.

I heard from someone in the bathroom stall at McDonald's earlier that Bruce was willing to listen to Iowa's offer. I'm worried.

Does that mean he'll never leave, even for big money, for another job because "he likes it here?"

Bruce Pearl IS UT basketball!
Don't say that. He's done well, especially down the stretch this team, but that's going to far. The program is always bigger than the coach. I remember hearing a lot of "Fulmer is UT football." It's never a good attitude to have.

Boy, that is so true. Kiffin's rude departure greatly set back Vol confidence. It's a good thing Bruce is such a class act. What he has done for the school and athletics in general, especially after what could have been a meltdown, is immeasurable. He has made us forget what a little nerd Kiffin was. Now if Dooley can step up to the plate ...
