Pearl is the #1 Coach in College Basketball

Too many reasons why it's true.......

1. Beats #2 team in country with star player playing injured and best player thrown off team.......

2. Beats #1 team in country with half the team suspended, and best player thrown off team........

3. Develops team and talent at a joke-of-a-basketball school.......

4. 5 straight NCAA tournaments, 2 sweet sixteens......

5. averaging almost 75% winning percentage.....

6. 8-2 record against gators

7. Beat 2 teams that won NC, and one that got to finals during regular season

8. Did all this with only 1 NBA player to date.......

9. Also, he has lost Tyler Smith, Duke Crews, Ramar Smith, Josh Tabb, Negedu, and others......To lose that many key players and still put together these types of teams is simply remarkable....
PHP:
I challenge anyone on this board to name any other coach who has done more with less talent.......:hi:[/QUOTE]

How about Pat Summit?????? Did you not see last years women's team?

I do agree like Hithc that calls in the local radio stations. he calls Bruce the TOTAL PACKAGE! Bruce can motivate, recruit gameplan and sell the program nationally. I like his humility too. he said early on its tough to be Bruce Pearl. He said how would you like to pull up to a top recruits house right has Coaches Kryzewski or Roy williams just left? He finished with what coach are you going to sign with? lol

I'm laughing at his great ability develop talent.

I'm laughing at his humility.

But hey, it's tough to be Bruce Pearl.

not butting in or arguing for the other side; but he has won a conference championship - 2008

Sorry, I should have made myself a little clearer.

The best coach in the nation should have at least won a conference tournament championship, much less the NC.

Bruce Pearl ruined Calipari so hard yesterday, Coach Cal left Thompson-Boling walking bowlegged.
Yeah, that flat ruined UK's year. I bet they are going to forfeit their number 1 seed and skip the tourney.

that establishes your point/view better

b/c the SEC and the NCAA both consider the regular season conference championship a championship just like they do the tournament one

winning either honestly should be given considerable merit

Yep, Cal and UK will never recover from that loss yesterday. It will bring the program to its knees.

Read the middle of post again, slowly. Then you can try again!!!

Changes nothing. You made the ridiculous point tha he's number want, except for that pesky issue of postseason emptiness.

You then said everyone would look folish when that day arrives. That presumption is almost as absurd as the #1 comment.

How much did Lofton improve? He was always a good three point shooter? Did he improve on defense?

Tyler Smith came in as a potential lottery pick after his sophomore year. He finished the first half of his senior year playing like garbage.

What about Hopson? Why is he driving us crazy? He's been here for long enough that the master developer of talent should have turned him into a start.

And what about Ramar Smith. Why did he regress?

B williams?

#1 is quite a title to give him. He's got no elite eights, no final fours, no SEC tourney titles and no 'AA titles. While the OPost sheds good light on how good a coach he is. I think you'd have better success telling why he's a top25 coach in America.or if you're feeling ambitious, top10. But #1 is more than just a stretch.

And your on here because we don't matter!!!!!!

No, I'm on here because I like discussing basketball (and sports) with intelligent, logical, subjective, and insightful rival fans..... at an intelligent, logical, subjective, and insightful level.

Which by process of elimination, we find that you fall into none of those categories.

Attention all who think that Bruce Pearl is the #1 coach in college basketball, please return to the football forum

I will say one thing about the OP's post...

Give me how many NCAA and Conference Titles at UT Bruce has won that deem him the best coach in all of college basketball...

Exactly what I thought...

to say pearl is the best coach in the nation is to say the sun belt is the southern power football conference.

No offense to the OP but this fan base is starting to look like the most fair weather, manic depressive fan base in the country. After every loss there are 50 threads about how the players suck, CBP sucks and the basketball team is doomed. After every win there are 50 threads about how CBP is the best coach ever, Bobby Maize, Scotty Hopson, etc are amazing players. This is just getting old.

Can only agree with your assessment of the fan base.
