UF's top 2 playmakers on offense(not including Tebow) were injured for the game. That's the reason there was not a single deep ball attempted by Tebow in the game.
now the excuses will start flowing at why the gators didn't beat TENNESSEE as bad as they did. just admitt that the VOLS are better than you thought, and they put it to your ass.
The game was a snore. UT never forced them to do anything and Meyer is excellent at doing "just enough" in key games. Kiffin didn't play to win he played to keep it respectable. See the dive plays into the line down 10 with 5 min to go. UF ran for more than 200 yards and was one play from 30-6. The UT TD was aided by one of the worst intentional grounding non-calls ever seen. I'm glad I got to visit the swamp. I'm glad I took UT and the under but the game was NOT close. Kiffin will be fine as long as Dad hangs around.
they looked vanilla because we took alot of options away. our DB's played well and were able to get pressure on tebow. their "vanilla" play was more of a result of our schemes.

"I got to watch some of the game. Looked to me like UF kept it pretty vanilla again. I too think it was sloppy and I think Kiffin's antics are going to put the biggest bullseye in the SEC on him, which is saying something considering the coaches, teams, and recent championships the SEC has won."
Geez.
Agreed. It's one of those with the most exposure though and that's one of the reasons, IMO, that UF continues with the "fan" reputation problem is because of posters such as those. Once UF loses a single game, be it this year or next, they will resemble "Charlie the upset UF fan" on youtube.
Good game NCGB.
It didn't help being without Deonte Thompson for the game but 1 receiver a offense does not make, even Percy. I was really concerned for both our offensive and defensive lines. On the offensive side, both DE's for Tennessee were constantly in the backfield. That, coupled with the 2 deep safeties didn't permit the long ball and so we played perfectly into UTs hands of playing conservative. On the defensive side, we couldn't get any pressur eon the few times Cromp dropped back and when UT did run it seemed like Hardesty or Brown were past the LBs before they got hit. Not good.
Overall, it wasn't thrilling. I knew we had the game in-hand throughout the second half and was just unexcited for the rest of it. Our playcalling on offense is, at this stage, missing Mullen - I don't care who you talk to. The Tebow read was called once every 4 downs and more often than not, Tebow ran it. He was running it with a minute left in the game. Either way, the game was pretty blah, as a Florida fan. I was in the small minority that predicted that it would be closer than the 30, 40, and 50 point spreads I had seen. This was too close. Monte's playcalling trumped our offensive playcalling.
Kiffin's sissy gameplan was to play not to lose big, and we're not so vain and stupid as to risk a certain victory guaranteed by the opposing coach's womanly philosophy just to beat the spread. So if we lacked the playmakers to stretch the field, why not just play ball control?

They were vanilla because Monte Kiffin's defense FORCED them to be. Everytime Tebow attempted to drop back and throw a long pass, he gets sacked....3 on the day. THAT was why it was so vanilla...the defense took those big plays away from the Gay-tors.Quote from the sewer known as GSMB.

I thought he should've opened it up or put Stephens in...but all CLK was doing was limiting Crompton's ability to screw up the game all by himself, and put the load on the running game. Can't fault him for using the strength of the team and protecting the weakness (Crompton).Kiffin's sissy gameplan was to play not to lose big, and we're not so vain and stupid as to risk a certain victory guaranteed by the opposing coach's womanly philosophy just to beat the spread. That was objectively. Objectively, the grounding you mention was borderline at worst. The one play shoulda coulda woulda argument is typically for people too stupid to present anything worthwhile. Most recognize that the argument could be made exactly the opposite. Kiffin's playcalling reflects the weakness left his as a passing attack. He is immediately rectifying that on the recruiting trail and it has nothing to do with his father. In fact, he'll be fine as long as Orgeron is around.
