Why the heck did we try to run right up the middle on 4th down!?

I just felt like if we pitched the ball there we couldve outran them into the endzone. Their tackles were pretty dominant on the line.

It was a brilliant plan by the offensive wizard, lane kiffin! He was thinking he was calling plays back at usc with reggie bush in the backfield!

somewhere I believe I read, that Kiffin was emphasizing the run game...its 4th and goal game on the line, when better to ask your OL and senior TB to produce?

Forget this G-gun gimmick garbage. Had they pounded that in it would have been big and a great call. We pounded it for about ten minutes on UCLA and had them on their heels. No problem with the play call.

Pounding it between the tackles was the only thing that even slightly worked yesterday.

Yeah... I think we all learned a valuable lesson. You can't judge your offense when they play a bad team. :cray:

Could we have been better off not getting the safety?

That would have forced UCLA to punt from deep in their end zone and we probably would have had better field position. Yes we would have still had to score a td and UCLA could have won with a fg but it was something I was thinking about on the way home last night.

If they would have punted, yes, but they probably would've taken the safety on 4th down.

i believe we need to just look around at all the shirts stickers an what not around the stadium, they all say ITS TIME! an i believe this is true it is TIME... for crompton to go. i dont believe we need to boo every game he has a mistake but i do believe that this weekend should us there is no improvement what so ever in his decision making, he gets way to emotional and cant get out of his own way. i just believe that hes goin to bring this team into the same downfall as last season. so lets not let one man be the loss of a entire season. i hate to say it but if we dont get on the ball i believe at the end of the season berry will be gone, id hate to see that but theres only so much the defence can do when we have a qb thats playin for the other team.

It didn't work the prior two plays! Kiffin disappointed me with his playcalling almost as much as JC made me angry.

Yea we should have called a playaction and let Crompton attempt another pass, only to have it picked off by a defensive end and returned 100 yards for another UCLA score

Point is.. Everytime Crompton puts the ball in the air it has about a 50% chance to get picked off, 15% chance to be at someone's foot, 15% chance to be overthrown, 10% chance to be knocked down and 10% chance to be complete.. I'll take my chances on 4th down to maybe get a touchdown or give the opponent the ball in their end zone

I realize I'm dragging up yesterday's thread, but just wanted to add that I didn't like the call up the middle on this play either... it seems to me that UCLA stuffed that up the middle call maybe twice on that same drive, and I was hoping for a pitch-out to the strong side..

BUT...

In any case, it's hard to win games when you can't recover the opposition's fumbles and you've got your own QB throwing 5 interceptions.

Just felt like stating the obvious...
