OldTimer’s Dugout - Off Topic Thread

He's more like James Coburn in my book. Not a great leading man, but good enough that I'd watch his movies. Gotta say...Cage was really good at picking scripts that fit him. He's also not a one trick pony like Liam Neeson...although I'll watch most anything that he does, too.
I grew up watching Jimmy Stewart James Cagney & Humphrey Bogart.
Stewart being my favorite w/Cagney being a close 2nd. Edward G. Robinson
was also a great one too. Can't leave him off the list. John Wayne in westerns
and war movies was it for me altho there's so many to list w/great actors of
those times.

Considering I can remember hoping we could just make Hoover most years....I agree. Still, this years team feels kinda blah/bland. Very milquetoast-ish.
It was up and down, but it’s still not over!
If the season ends tomorrow, I’m optimistic about next year.
Several young guys that have me very excited about their future in orange and white, and I can almost guarantee you Elander will learn a lot and grow from this season.

I like Jimmy Stewart, as well

When Frank left to follow Tony at the 11th hour it put the coaching staff in a bad spot. E had to scramble for a replacement. There was minimal time to mold the young arms given the short timeframe. We’ll see a much improved team next year, not that this year was a failure.
Yep. The whole timeline sucked. Not a good time of year to lose your HC and a huge chunk of your staff.

Absolutely agree on Stewart. My all-time favorite actor especially in Hitchcock flicks. Could watch him read an almanac and be entertained. Loved him in Harvey.

A bit more recent than Bogart and Cagney, but I enjoyed Lancaster, Grant, Cooper, and Douglas in their day. Gotta say...and I know it's blasphemy...but I was never a big John Wayne fan. Still when I see those legends and compare them to what we have today....just sad to see what Hollywood has become. No imagination. No originality. Zero depth.

No imagination & no originality is why you get Part 2 of a movie.
Guardians of the Galaxy part 2.

I’m with you on John Wayne.
I’ll definitely watch a John Wayne flick, but…

Now Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef, Yul Brenner, are a different story.
I like Lee Marvin, Charles Bronson and Steve McQueen too.
