So we play one game before we play Texas, if we win. IMO because we are deep at pitching, I think playing Texas after the girls get totally acclimated to the environment is a good thing. If we were 4 we'd already be in that slot without chancing a loss is the biggest obvious advantage. I just like were we are, of course win the first game. Then the gauntlet.

Playing a game in softball is not a disadvantage as far as I am concerned unless you have only one star pitcher. We have three pitchers so we can go Mardjetko the first day and then Karlyn can start against Texas. Have to win that first game a must and then certainly beating Texas would make us a home team both the regional and Super regional.

Emma Clarke isn’t that much worse than Maddi Rutan. At least with Emma her bat can at times produce, where as Maddi is a complete liability both defensively and especially at the plate. Mackenzie Butt needs to be in the lineup consistently imo. Karen needs to figure something out because unfortunately our offense isn’t good enough to let one of the few good hitters we have ride the bench and only pinch hit late in games.

Can't disagree Butts would be huge getting four at bats a game. Evidently they like Rutan better at third.

Rutan is not a liability on defense. She's very good there, which is the main reason why she starts.

I do agree Butt needs to be in the lineup all the time.

This is the problem. There’s really nowhere to put her. The only option is to move Clarke back to 3rd and put Butt back at 1st. Rutan is good at 3rd but her bat is really struggling. Clarke is better playing 1st than 3rd. But you hate not getting Butt more at bats because she does produce. Tough call for Karen.
