Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I pray to be as driven as Rick when i am 72. He's still flexible and adaptive.
Rick Barnes is an anomaly...we are extremely fortunate to have landed him....especially consider the disaster period we were going through when he was hired.

On a side note....the extremely stupid Idiot Margin griping about Rick Barnes in this place is one of the biggest reasons why I don't post much anymore. I absolutely despise the Idiot Margin of this fanbase, that particular group is the worst fanbase in sports imo.

I do believe the other part of this fanbase is the best fanbase in sports however.

This is stuff I don't care about, I don't care if the experts put Juke as a 3* recruit as long as he puts 17-20 ppg up for the Vols.

I only care about winning on the basketball court.
I think maybe being a 5 star adds too many expectations, ergo unnecessary stress for a kid to have to be a superstar. I think that's happened with a couple of our last freshmen.

To add onto hwat the poster said, who gives a rat's posterior what they're ranked. We've seen what he can do. Just win:

Yeah we all know gettin a guy that averages 21 in the ACC is a 5 star portholer.

I think 247 mails it in when it comes to basketball ratings

I will meet vol fans in person that are all eeyore about basketball and say stuff to me like "Mehh, we'll probably just make it to the elite 8 again"

YEAH VOL BASKETBALL IS FUN. ALL WE DO IS WIN.

They can't stop the football mentality with basketball and baseball. It's maddening.

Yep, drives me crazy. Like it's the worst bunch of fairweather/frontrunner fans we have. Even the "I love Tony" fans seemed to at least have an understanding of baseball...we got pure frontrunners in basketball that seem to only get vocal when we lose.

Battlestar Galactica is superior to both.

Star Wars is mid and Star Trek is only slightly better.
BG is really solid, I'd agree it's better than both. Some day when work and kids aren't taking all my time, I'd like to watch all of them sequentially, I've only ever seen them out of order on the sci fi channel over the years.

I don’t understand how Juke Harris is not a 5* transfer...I get the others being high 4*s, but his rating makes zero sense to me. I suppose it is because he blew up just this past year...that's the only thing I can think of.
If you're the #1 player in the portal, you should be a 5*. How do they make their rankings? Do they use HS rankings? They should reevaluate their star ratings to match their portal ranking.

I wonder what the starting 5 looks like. I assume the VCU guard at point, juke at SG and the ND transfer at 3. Belmont sharp shooter off the bench with the cal PG being a back up. We will be lethal imo

at 220 I fell through my attic down into the stairwell. luckily wasnt hurt. but that ended that ********. no more climbing on roofs and in attics. Ill hire the job out.

It took me reenacting 'ow my balls' from the Idiocracy Movie to move. It also prompted a bit of movement to lose some weight. 😆

Next step was to take plywood and place in other attic and storage areas.

Yeah, but if good posters quit posting the Idiots are all that's left. Hang in there.

People were melting down over a season where we ended up a dang 6 seed!

Another thing I just started wondering about is...why did people act like we were wondering in the basketball desert for decades before Bruce got here? I started following in Bruce's first season and I got the impression that Vol basketball was some sort of decades long train wreck.

But it was literally JUST four seasons without a tournament berth and two of those Buzz seasons were NIT. Not great, but they weren't horrific or anything. Before that it was four straight tournament teams!

In the 29 seasons beginning with Jerry Green, we have had 19 NCAA appearances. Four NIT's. Bubble team in the covid year.

3 losing seasons.

Times have been pretty good for a while.

Checker Neyland game will be against Texas, perfect game for it IMO. Show them boys down there that everything is bigger in Tennessee. Ty Redmond shuts down Cam Coleman and we win with GMac or Brandon having a coming out party. I got us undefeated going into the A&M game.
We need our defense to score points in that one. Rattle Arch.

The Ignore feature is awesome. I’m all for differing opinions, but the Eyeores, no matter the situation, they’re out the door. Perpetually negative ppl are not going to disturb my peace.

Wish others would use it more instead of getting into pi$$ing contests to ‘prove a point’.

1st Perfect game in "Modern Baseball" history
37-year-old Cy Young pitched the first perfect game in modern Major League Baseball history, retiring all 27 Philadelphia Athletics batters in a 3-0 Boston Americans victory. Young struck out eight, lasted only 83 minutes.

Young's perfect game was the centerpiece of a 25 and 1/3 inning hitless streak.. This historic stretch spanned nearly three full games and involved retiring 76 consecutive batters without allowing a hit...still a MLB record

  • Start (April 25): The streak began during a 2-0 loss to Philadelphia, where he threw 3 hitless innings to close the game.
  • Relief (April 30): Young pitched 7 hitless innings in relief during a 4-1 victory over Washington.
  • The Perfect Game (May 5): He pitched 9 perfect innings against the Philadelphia Athletics.
  • End (May 11): Young added another 6.1 hitless innings against Detroit before a double by Sam Crawford finally broke the streak.
