We get a lot of tech stuff like microprocessors and electrical components. A lot of our industry would be crippled if we didn't have access to that at least for now. We are working on domestic production of those items. Cost more but we can't be dependant on them.

dude the blockade started a month into it. after a month of constantly changing mission statements, end goals, and justifications. heck Trump was demanding help from Europe to OPEN the straight not that long ago.

if you can't see the pattern in the government coming up with whatever lie they need to justify themselves at this moment I don't know what to tell you.

Trump's admin is no different in this regard than those who came before him.

China has no choice but to play the long game. They have not been in military conflict for fifty years and then got their azzes handed to them by the Vietnamese. Militarily they are a paper tiger and we now have a stranglehold on them economically.
Too bad we are losing though.

Sidebar: Iran has deposits of uranium ore, but not enough has been discovered to sustain nuclear power production. They’ve imported uranium ore for their nuclear program and would have to continue to import it to sustain nuclear power generation. Their pursuit of refinement of nuclear materials “for power generation” is suspect.

On the other hand, Iran’s environment is particularly suitable for solar and other passive power generation. They’ve made investments in deploying these technologies and could ramp these up even further.

Additionally, Iran is at a high risk for earthquakes (over 90% of the country) from the collision of the Eurasian and Arabian tectonic plates. Seismic activity is high. The risk to any nuclear power plants is significant.

So once again it’s a blockade without troops on the ground. Pretending a blockade is another “forever war” is a joke.

I didn't realize people who supported Trump's efforts of "no new wars" are called Doomers. I don't understand the link, but I guess I am not in that dimension of 17D chess that yall operate on.

depending on what you mean by "withstand" yes. North Korea has survived worse, for longer.

really I think they will last longer than our will to uphold it. especially as our allies in the region are losing more money than Iran is, and prices at home reflect all of it. Europe is already beginning to feel the strain, and this is very much a global issue.

we are apparently trying to destroy an ideology. that doesn't die because the dollars do. if anything we are becoming more of the bad guys in Iran than we were before, strengthening that ideology. before this mess most Iranians were tired of a repressive government that tried to sell the US as the boogey man. now we have the US blowing up schools, and the repressive government is justified in hating the US, AND has a reason for being repressive...the Americans. we gave them a real enemy to solidify behind.
