2026 Vols Transfer Portal Thread

I think Lue is being underappreciated. He played on a team that had nowhere near the talent he will be playing with next year. The way he cuts to the basket and plays off the dribble against other bigs i see him as an improvement over JP, Cade and Carey. He has a good looking touch around the rim. He can play above the rim. He shoots decent from the FT line. And he can make you the occasional open three. He blocks shots. Dont let the fact he came from Kennesaw State fool you into thinking he isnt a good player. This may not be the break out type of big everyone was hoping for. But he is no slouch. I look forward to seeing him in Orange next year.

Yes to all this. And, I trust in Barnes to choose players more than us 'posters' watching from afar.

Tanner never entered, was that even ultimately legit? As I said, I never saw Ament and Juke here, so to me they likely had money for 1/3. I think we had by far the highest budget we’ve had so far, and yes it allowed us some good players, but I don’t think it was essentially a blank check or you would’ve seen them target guys other than Rubin and Lue in the post. There’s a reason I kept making fun of @Legion of Doom of doom when he was saying we’ve got $13m or whatever and to go and get Thiam & Diop now, wasn’t reality.
Nevermind, not venturing further down this rabbit hole.

I just don’t see him a true 5.

We haven’t had a great big man yet. Okpara showed flashes, but it took half of his senior year to get going. I’d take Wayne Chism over anyone we’ve had this far. Looking forward to watching an athlete who knows how to play underneath if we’ve found one.

Anybody got a clue on developmental skills of our new staff members with BIGS? Don’t see CRB wasting slots at this point in the cycle. Offensively rebound, power putbacks or kick outs to our new shooters with MINIMAL turnovers. Seems to have defensive genes already.

There’s a fairly publicly circulated sentiment that they will support Barnes beyond the parameters of their targeted spend. As for Tanner, they absolutely had the support for him if he chose to enter and spoke to his agents pretty intensively over weeks. I’m not sure what you mean by “even ultimately legit” but it was factually that degree of legit. They won’t lose Juke over money and I think they feel pretty confident they’ll get him, and that they’d have more money if they need to be opportunistic. If some outlier possibility comes up (like Ament withdrawing) they’d step up beyond the target. They did do last year too.

Right, I mentioned they would, there’s circumstances that can change things…but when dealing with the bulk of the roster and additions they are adhering to a system and a “budget”, they aren’t able to just go and add Diop, or overpay for a Hastings…outside of some big time guys they’ve for the most part got a budget to stick to.

Trilly say Michigan leads for Juke? Michigan board is saying that.
The Michigan staff member post says put the odds at 45%". Not sure how that's favored...

The screen capture trilly part on the Michigan board said probably Michigan because he doesn't think vols will wait around for him.
