Finding fault with Barnes comment again proves some people just can’t wait to be offended or upset about something trivial every day.
If anything it was simply a message of support from aments HC and a message to GMs.
Anything you’ve heard regarding Juke or anyone else?My read on Barnes comments about Nate are that we shouldn’t read too much into it. Barnes has been in love with him since day one. Saying he thinks he’s the best player in the country and that’s why he should go doesn’t mean he wouldn’t love to have him back. They’ve had a private conversation or will have one. Barnes believes in him and will continue to regardless of his choice.
If anything this comment takes the pressure off Nate. Now if Nate comes back all parties can know he wasn’t coerced by our staff.
I don’t see the big deal. He's hyping up his guy. Cal used to say similar things. I don’t understand what it hurts. Publicly hyping up your player also makes the program look good, and if Nate were to announce Hes coming back, the narrative is “likely top 15 pick returns to play for Barnes.”Could be? Just my personal belief that saying publicly that there’s nothing to talk about and that he’s a top player in the country when he was MIA for a good chunk of the season is bizarre
It’s also an extremely high percent chance that if he came back next year in a weaker draft, he would be a top 5 pick. He has more to gain by coming back than arguably any player in this draft. Just my opinion at the end of the day
5 for 5 with no grandfathering, administratively, makes sense. Obviously screws over all the current seniors, but at least it's less chaotic.
Or be smart and not move on this until September? Here’s the thing. The NCAA is mostly powerless here. The most likely scenario is they pass the 5 for 5 rule but don’t grandfather in the most recent class of Seniors, but the decision is challenged in court by someone as being unlawful, the NCAA fights it, the athlete wins anyway and then chaos still ensues.
The NCAA should probably just save themselves the embarrassment of losing in court again and let it apply and accept the chaos will happen regardless.
Too much logic...pls try to do better going forwardMy read on Barnes comments about Nate are that we shouldn’t read too much into it. Barnes has been in love with him since day one. Its juke I tell yaI could listen to Barnes talk for hours. He is such a genuine, honest and kind man. I hope this next squad takes him far. He deserves professional accomplishments and success. Just a wonderful representative for the program. Even if anyone disagrees with strategies or decisions he makes at times, you respect him always.
Who benefits if the NCAA does something this wrong? (Of course, they want us to cover for them by saying "stupid")? Kentucky, for sure. Who else had a terrible portal? Cui bono? Who gets the shaft? That’s probably the smart play, but the noise around this right now is pretty loud which makes it seem like it’s imminent (i.e., next few weeks, months). I guess we’ll see what they do.
