2026 Vols Transfer Portal Thread

Nope - just banking on CRB’s ability to teach defense
You can’t teach athletic ability. And Lundblade is severely limited in that respect. Maybe he can be serviceable at best. Would be quite the ask. I hope you are right. I’ve never seen a defender this bad in Barnes program so we will truly see how much magic he can work on this one.

Amorrow Morgan has put in a lot of work this off season, Polinsky has helped, Campbell & Daughtry do a lot of the behind the scenes and initial contact type of stuff.

Awesome. Do you know if they do portal player scouting with internal staff only or do they have a 3rd party service that helps?

Dalton was/is very bad. We learned how to hide him as the season went on by sticking him on bigger players who couldn’t really play off the dribble.

Now Dalton was a big guy and could hold his own there. The defense around him was also elite.

We’ll just have to see.

And Peyton had happy feet.

Damn, whats with all the hate on North Carolina? I'm a huge TN fan but I live and Charlotte and honestly find NC to be a great place to live. Don't really go to Chappell hill very often, but athletics aside, UNC is a very good school (academically).

Anyway, still hope Juke picks TN.
Clearly he has something against. Raleigh is an awesome city!!!

This might seem obvious but it really is going to depend on how well the team meshes early in the season and are they bought in to the culture and defensive mentality? We got blessed with ZZ, Shack, JJJ, and Vescovi. Not only were they great on defense but they helped any transfers and got them to buy in. I’m an offense first type of guy, so it’s a breath of fresh air to finally bring in a bunch of scoring. With that being said, we will have so many new guys and really no immediate identity. Definitely curious to see how we will fill out the roster tho because right now we have a solid core, we can turn that into a top 10 team or even top 5 depending on what we do with the last roster spots

Ryan, this dude literally knows nothing more than what he finds on Volquest or on X.

Agreed, man. Phony insider. It’s so clear they BTO just gets his “sources” from real reporters on Twitter like Luke Brush. Luke has been on the money since the portal started. He’s got real sources.

I know you’re being sarcastic, but they essentially do the same thing. Regurgitate others info and claim it as their own. I don’t care if posters bring other’s info..just cite where you got it from.

Totally disagree.

1. I don't think Lundblade is as unathletic as you seem to think
2. Santi wasn't super athletic, but with Barnes he was one of the best defenders in the country

Lundblade will start and ball out here.

I don't think that'll be the case...but mostly because landing Juke will force him into the lineup

Not really hate. Just stating campus life and town activity around d campus seems boring me. I been there , charlotte is a nice party place . Other then that
lol, I’ve lived in Chapel Hill with my family for 15 years now. Beats the hell out of going back to Hardin Valley to visit and dealing with the 40 hellscape through Knoxville and the eyesore of endless crap developments in Hardin Valley. In any regard, like it or not, neither are such a cesspool that they will keep Juke away from either.

I think it'll be Hill + Lundblade + Juke + Haralson + Rubin/Brown/someone else, with Dai Dai off the bench. If we get Tanner or another PG then I could see Lundblade off the bench.

I think you are sleeping on how bad his defense is.
This is tiresome to see over and over. His job at Belmont was to fill it up, not be a Mashack. Did you watch any Belmont games? They are in my backyard. I’ve also known Casey going all the back to his HS days playing at BA and summer ball playing against him as well as helping with his clinics back to when he was at Lipscomb.
Belmont played a sagging man help defense trying to force the opponent to shoot over them. Much like a matchup zone with man principles.

I don’t see it.

Would much rather have Hastings. He seems way more explosive and physical.
Kinda in the same boat. Hastings is shorter but explosive and has a large wingspan. Provides a little less rim protection, but potentially more offensive pop. I'm not rigid in that opinion, but Bamgboye seems like a physical and defensive copy of Rubin.

Will be interesting to see what the lineup looks like, all I know for certain is whoever starts will have worked their ass off to get into that lineup.

We don't have a direct upgrade over Ja'Kobi or Ament...but we've upgraded over Bishop/Evans/Burg/Massamba. Frontcourt we still need another good player to offset JP, Carey and Felix being gone but the incoming freshman and portal additions have this roster upgraded over what we had.

Someone sell me on Bamgboye. I'm having trouble with him.
I don’t think he’s some star, would be a depth piece at the 5 in a very similar mold to Rubin. Mainly a lob threat, put back dunker, he’s actually pretty solid from the FT line, a solid rebounder, but best attribute is his block rate which is among the tops in the nation similar to Rubin. Again, don’t think he’d be an all conference guy, but would be another post body and 5 fouls that can protect the rim.
