2026 Vols Transfer Portal Thread

I think the Juke story is that he's going to take a while before doing anything, and the Tanner story is that there's nothing to see.

But but but you should come on here with a glowing orange tinted story claiming to be an insider so you can get double digit likes.

Actually, I have paid attention. Just as someone could point out that his appearence in the video doesn't preclude his ultimately leaving, one could argue that Vanderbilt wouldn't risk the humiliation if they had an inkling he was considering leaving at this point. It seems like some are seeing what they want to see.

My point -- it isn't "crazy" as you suggested, to be really skeptical of Tanner coming here at this point given the portal entry window closes quite soon and he hasn't entered. And reputable people like Trilly Donovan have posted he doesn't think he will enter the portal.

So, really, who is the one "disregarding" information?

I've stated from the beginning Tanner entering the portal would be surprising given insight since he was younger. Money might be an attraction, but if it isn't then he will be at Vandy next year.

But you yourself have no idea one way or the other, so you choose to base your opinions of of instagram posts and month old videos. So you either have a bad memory or you’re choosing to ignore SF’s write up literally yesterday morning.
No, I base my opinions on all of the available information.I never said I knew what TT was going to do, but if someone won't acknowledge it is getting increasingly less likely by the day, then I don't know what to say.

I was just purely responding to the notion that it was "crazy" to be skeptical about this deal at this point.

I definitely didn’t say he’s coming. We have the best offer and best opportunity. His dad is a strong influence and would like him to stay. We’ve done everything we can and it’s a real shot, but it’s still in the fog.

So you're backpeddling? Admittedly many are still clinging to your every word.

Certain qualities are important to a father. Especially one who values commitment, your word, and loyalty

That’s what Tennessee is pushing against.

Many on this board understand and preach it when we lose recruits.

So I will pass no judgement if it’s the reason a young man chooses to stay at the school he started with.

We need to first focus on Harris and Hill. Get those done and announced. Not sure what deal is on Hill. Price seemed to thing that was done. Maybe someone else has gotten involved.

I don’t think he is backpedaling at all.

I live in Middle TN and ironically enough, I have better connections to Vanderbilt now than UT. I hadn’t heard anything on Tanner while others had.

When I finally did hear something (who knows how old the info is OR what is unknown OR what has changed) it lined up with what several others have heard too. I will say that there are radio hosts in Nashville that have heard the EXACT same thing from reliable sources.

We made what we thought, was an offer he couldn’t refuse. If he doesn’t come here…then other factors weighed heavily in the other direction.

I have zero new info and waiting around like everyone else…but the truth is, we have stepped up and made a hell of a pitch. One that UT thinks that Tanner would accept.

There’s no way we’ve pitched anything. An agent may have said here’s what you can get. But, it’s not as if They’ve met with Barnes. He’s not in the portal and it sure looks like he’s not entering.

If anything they are slow playing the “no” to throw a wrench in UTs other avenues. Vandy has a lot more money than most on here want to admit. I could absolutely see them leading on our staff to keep us from getting the next best option.

When did this whole TT story hit the message boards? Who brought it first? I am interested in a timeline as it seems odd if he wanted to transfer that he would wait till last few days .

I'm not taking sides unless you count the side of truth, but I challenge you to point to one of @Stoerner Fumbles' posts regarding Tanner that assumes anything. I'm pretty sure I've read them all, and any suggestion he makes that TT comes to UT includes a qualifier; he always makes clear nothing is certain. I am not always a defender of SF, but in this case there is no question that he is careful and responsible with what he has shared. If the kid doesn't come to UT, @Stoerner Fumbles has nothing to apologize for.

Just uncalled for, if you don't want to believe his info block him but I believe everyone else here are for more interested in hearing what he says than anything you have to offer.

Why would I block @Stoerner Fumbles? I respect his posting. I've just always been doubtful on this topic.

I said Tanner wouldn't enter the portal there was strong support for Vandy, and he said we've made an offer that's hard to refuse and that he was a UT fan growing up. Tanner has not entered the portal which shows he wasn’t a fly by night portal kid. However, he can still make a late business decision because he might not be able to pass it up. So we both could end up being right. Personally, I would love to have him in a UT uniform because he's turned into a fantastic player.

If I go to church tomorrow, I will look for the strong contacts in the Vandy athletic department and get their gut feeling if I can get near them and not feel awkward raising this question. If not, well know in a few days regardless. It would be the same contact that brought Stackhouse to visit a few years ago to take a picture with his frat brothers.

Hopefully he wants to play on a super team and compete for a final 4. That roster at Vandy is middle of pack SEC roster. Tanner seems like a real team guy and would love to have a shot at a final 4.

You better go to church tomorrow, if only for the reconnaissance

I'm guessing it's not hard to get you to buy into conspiracy theories.

And by the way, a pitch delivered through channels outside of our staff is still a pitch.

Get back to me when Vanderbilt makes a football playoff, wins more than a game in the men's basketball tournament, no longer has an angry elf with diminishing returns as a baseball coach, etc., etc.

Re: Donnie Freeman … I still haven’t heard much about Tennessee’s involvement there. Have heard about it from the Kentucky side. Also heard from Alabama folks that they think Tennessee is involved. So vols could have interest there … we just don’t know how much interest at the moment.
