4 Vols in the 1st round?

Why are our receivers hurt by Heupel’s system while the CB’s are not hurt by Banks’s system?
He's had 7 receivers drafted in the last 6 drafts and is about to add to that total with Brazzell (and possibly former receive squirrel white), so his "damaging" system is not completely deterring NFL teams. In fact, according to our AI overlords, only Ohio State with Hartline/Day (11), Alabama with Saban/DeBoer (11-13) and Brian Kelly (LSU/ND) (9-10) have exceeded Heupel's total since he has been a head coach.

I think all of those programs have had superior recruited talent to work with.

I’ve not seen any mock that’s had Josephs going in the 1st round. McCoy is for sure going 1st round and Hood has a good chance. I’ve seen Brazell projected early to mid 2nd round. I like Josephs but I’m not sold on him as a 1st round talent based on his play last season.

I personally think it’s a bunch of nothing. We’ve always had receivers who got drafted pretty high who didn’t work out in the NFL.

I agree. The only NFL receivers who really stood the test of time were either physical freaks (among NFL players) or tough as nails.

Brazzell had some early 1st round mocks on ESPN.

Haven't seen him there or anywhere else though. I think he goes in the 2nd.

To save anyone from having to click or those at work who can’t access X. Hood was projected at 14.

If my Panthers draft another WR when Brazzle Dazzle is still on the board, I am gonna be pissed. 6ft5in ran a 4.34 and nobody in the SEC could come close to covering him. The Panthers are like the Titans though and have a long, nauseating history of picking crap players over VOLS.

The idea of Love falling to my Bucs at 15 never occurred to me, but him and Bucky in the backfield would be insane.

A great recruiting tool to have 4 picked in the 1st round.

I’m not sure about Josephs, but the other three are transfers. Given they would mostly likely be going pro wherever they played, I’m not sure that translates to a recruiting advantage.

Did he also give up the run and QB spy to prevent big pass plays? I thought Banks’s defense was overly friendly to pass coverage.
That’s an entirely different argument. I just pointed out that the system for CB’s specifically, translates to the NFL. He was heavy man coverage on the outside with guys like McCoy, Gibson, Hood & Ty. The 2 that excelled are likely first round picks, because the system showcased their talents. Ricky isn’t as good as McCoy & Hood but he still was considered a quality CB. Ty is going to probably end up better than all of them and his size will put his draft stock through the roof. He has 1 full season of film as a true freshman showcasing that skill set in a man scheme.

Our WR’s on the other hand take plays off on film, run a limited route tree, and plays vs college windows. That doesn’t translate to the NFL because it’s the exact opposite. You can’t take plays off, and you have to have a solid route tree foundation. The NFL isn’t spread offense, they play with condensed formations and the windows are much smaller.

NFL teams simply turn on the UGA tape when they evaluate our WR’s. They’re sending the entire defense to the NFL every other year. They are the best evaluation you can get for our WR’s. It’s the Tennessee Scheme vs NFL style defense.
