2026 Vols Transfer Portal Thread

Yes you’re correct, he’d still have to enter the portal in the next two weeks. That way he can withdraw from the draft after the combine in may. We’re talking to other portal PGs, not an all our eggs in one basket situation.

Recruiting is fluid
Yes, I know recruiting is fluid. Lol.

So, basically what I said about the timelines not working was correct.

I think this guy isn't really an insider guys.

Barnes has been to three straight Elite 8’s, yet you continue to take unnecessary shots at the guy like he doesn’t know what he’s doing.

Your sh*t is old.

Find new material.
It’s just a question, relax. Michigan had a better offense than ours by far. Especially for big men. No debate. Find a thicker skin.

Maybe other coaches are poaching players from TN and making them more productive offensively.

I’ll hang up and listen.
When was the last time that really happened other than transferring down a level where shot opportunities are much easier? I’ll grant you DJ Burns

Cam Carr I could give you but I also feel like transferring to a really bad team and having high usage on that team so that you’re producing isn’t necessarily being developed. There are a lot of old NBA guys (and current) that score like 30 to 50 for tanking teams who are terrible that wouldn’t produce nearly as much on actual good teams, hence why they never win MVP even with gaudy numbers

Really hope we don’t regret letting Estrella walk and not paying him. I just have been so high on him since we got his commitment, and Dusty May’s recent track record with post players seems to suggest we may be undervaluing Estrella.

I have a feeling he’s going to crush it next year.

Highly doubt Barnes is “undervaluing” him considering it was reported that he was offered around the 2.5 million range.

However, don’t think he’s worth more than that considering his injury with his foot and not able to stay out of foul trouble.

Barnes has a plan and is sticking to it.

Just expressing an opinion. Don’t like it? Don’t read it.
I do wonder what the intent of the statement is when you go on a site and post that you don't care.

If you truly did not care, you wouldn't be on the site.

One possibility is that you're expressing a different opinion, but not saying it directly. Perhaps you mean something other than you say, but feel that these words best express it.

Another possibility is that you want others to feel the same way that you do.

In all possibilities you came here and chose this venue in order to select this audience in particular. So it's possible that you care less about the subject being discussed and more about creating a reaction in the audience. That makes me wonder what the value is in reading what you have to say.

Burns was not much to speak of save a 5 game ncaa tournament run…this is the same argument people at big schools had 10 years ago when there was a local kid on VCU, George Mason, wherever that went deep in March…”WHY DIDNT COACH X GET HIM”

And we all know it’s not that simple. Barnes has been highly successful with guys that would have never seen the floor for May or any of those guys at Baylor or NCState

Grant Williams is a prime example: I wonder if anyone questioned Roy Williams ability to coach after letting him out of North Carolina.

Truth is sometimes guys fit better other places but we need to credit our coaches when they fit here

Considering the reports suggesting that Indiana made an offer, we can assume multiple schools competed for Estrella. In that light, the market set the price, and it was higher than what we were willing to pay.

That said, maybe we're not shopping for the same thing. If Estrella was a bad fit in the role we had for him, it's possible that a good fit would be a player with a lower market value. There is some possibility that both he and his replacement will outperform what he did this year.

I understand the point but it’s been reported that the market for big men this year is in the $3-$4 million range considering options are relatively limited. I guess the word “undervalue” is open to interpretation, because it’s subjective and value to one person may be different than another. But at least by the market standards we didn’t match.

I know there are injury concerns. I just have a feeling next year we’ll be seeing Estrella as one of the best bigs in the entire country and it’s going to suck.

I'm not sure about playing like Uros. He was the first post in a few years that we could legitimaly throw it to get a key bucket (like the UVA game). His short range baby hooks or jumpers were great. I am guessing he will shoot more 3's too. He has a good shot.
It was reported by beat writers they were showing him old film of Uros in an attempt to make him more physical and it coincided with when he was averaging 13 mpg so it seems that was a factor in his PT.

Tobe Awaka developed well in Arizona. Aidoo was a mixed bag in Arkansas but I think he came on late season for them.
I feel like Awaka and Aidoo are the same guys they were here more or less (with more minutes/development from Awaka which is normal). I just don’t think we’ve let guys who were more than role players (on a good team) go or truly become offensive stars. We haven’t had like a reverse Dalton Knecht situation where a guy blew up on a great team and was so good offensively that them transferring was a disaster. I don’t really expect that from Estrella either.

I think Estrella will be good like a double-double guy depending on opportunity and injury, closeish to what he was last year but with more minutes. I don’t see Edey happening or something like that where it’s going to be a huge regret, just like good regular offensive big man play where he’s like the third option on a good team.
