Lady Vols Historic First?

They don’t deserve to be in the tournament. They need to turn in uniforms and call it a season. Fire Caldwell and go get a top notch coach, They need to clean house and get several quality players that have high character and want to wear the orange uniform with pride. It may take two yers to have a ranked team and compete in SEC.

Maybe because "while I'm on the court" is such a short stay.

I believe playing in two minute bursts is at the heart of why this team is so disheartened and chaotic. It's just very hard for them to accomplish anything

I think that a player with talent and professional aspirations would be looking to the coaches to improve their game and for court time to showcase their talent.

That is a big part of it and why were so terrible against the better teams. A team without defined roles is just street ball and that is exactly what we play. No way I am wanting a player whose main strength is post play running around on the perimeter taking shots. Somehow we found a way to recruit all athletes and all terrible shooters for the most part. Inconsistent at best.
That's why watching Latham and Spearman hovering around the perimeter looking to shoot 3's is mind boggling. Get them in the paint and get to work. At least Barker has been akking hers, but it should be used as an additional weapon, not her go to. Watching UK/SC today, and Clara Strack and Madinah Okot were both using the 3 to pull their defenders out, and then attacking the rim. Barker is too good not to be exploiting this. Instead, she's like Hassett from UK who is a 6'4 spot up shooter. At least she has an excuse that she has a fraction of the athleticism and ball handling that Barker has.

Meanwhile, Danny White is gaslighting the fans on local radio. Danny thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room. He had a proven, final four coach who wanted the job, but wanted to put his own mark on it. He thinks he’s will have a legacy as the one who restored LV basketball. He sat there this week and told us how much time it takes. In the age of NIL? No sir, it doesn’t. Plus, LV fans aren’t asking you to beat SC, UConn and LSU in the same year, and go to the final four. I’ve seen nothing but reasonable expectations from LV fans. This team has nose dived and is genuinely at risk iof not making the tourney. 16-13?? Really? First round tourney loss??

The only way they make the tourney is off Pat’s legacy. There’s nothing in their resume to justify it.

Just wondering who wanted the job
And been to final four

Not one those Thinks Danny White the best athletic director in the country bunch
Just be clear not about Danny

Just curious what coach you are talking about
Would like to know the name of the coach Danny passed on…

Pat is gone. She is no longer with us. (Yeah I hear you saying, Thanks Captain Obvious. We knew that.)

However, there is plenty of her left. Her shadow still hangs over the program. It hung over Holly. It hung over Kelly. And it hangs over Kim, even though I don't think she ever knew her.

Maybe that shadow is still there. But it just seems to me that in preparing this team and how they play? Instead of looking straight into Pat's eyes, they are averting their gaze. That is sad. And IMO, that is a mistake. They need to look back in time, figure out the standard Pat spent years perfecting.

I am not saying Kim or whoever else coaches the Lady Vols tries to emulate Pat. That would be impossible, Pat was one of a kind. But they do need to put up on themselves, both staff and players alike, the standards of discipline and effort that Pat would expect of them.

We cannot bring back the dead. But we can try to live up to what they gave us. Pat deserves that. And this team does too. If only they get the common sense to buy back in to it.

Fire them all and go get the coach at Roane State or some other Jr. College, and then kick all the players off the team and start all over with a clean slate.

I think TN will be an NCAA #8 or #9 seed, the last SEC team in. They'll probably play Iowa State, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma State, USC, Clemson, Virginia or Villanova in their first game and – if they win – they'll face UCLA or UConn in their second game. Then, in their next game.... Nah, there won't be a third game.

Some sportswriters aren't sure that TN will make the Tourney at all.
Tennessee could miss its 1st women's NCAA Tournament after closing season with 7 straight losses

I don't have an issue with them making the tournament based on their overall body of work. Having said that, I think that the form coming into the tournament should count for something. In my opinion, no team coming into the tournament on a 7-game losing streak has any business being in the tournament. There is a mid-major somewhere that is more deserving.

The seeding committees do take into account a team's late season momentum (or lack of). For that reason, I too think the LVs are more on the bubble and we can't assume even that a 8 or 9 seed is a sure bet.

The team may have played a tough schedule but it resulted in a slew of blow out losses. Those outcomes actually do not give you brownie points with the committee. The teams signature win is KY, which is a relatively small signature to offset a number of "bad" losses and historic blowouts.

I think form will impact their seeding, but not whether or not they receive an at large bid. 20-something NET and #1 SOS WILL get them in the tournament, but like you said, they might get an even lower seed than predicted. I just don't think a team deserves a bid if they lost every single game ion the last 3 weeks and won only 2 of 9 games over 6 weeks, NET/SOS be damned.

If they don't make it - this forum will be on fire and couches will probably be burning in Knoxville.

I doubt it. The younger fans have long ago realized lady Vols are not a premier program any more. Us older fans are just now letting this sink into our heads. Doubt anyone even raises an eyebrow to missing the tournament. We’ve become the later day La. Tech,, Old Dominion, etc. it’s just sad

Amazing. In the past, I have seen some of those who are now blasting DW and CKC, telling us all how great they were.

I still believe in DW. He has brought all the Vol programs back to respectability. I never expected CKC to be "lights out," for a few years. I thought she was too young and inexperienced to rebuild a program at U-T. I believe she has the capacity to learn and will do better. I don't believe DW should fire her...I believe all Coaches need at least 3 years to get their feet on the ground.

I believe the LV team does have some pretty good players. However, having a "bunch" of good players doesn't always translate to success. I don't believe some of these "good" players are coachable.

Pat was a great Coach but the program had already started to slide, in her final years. More schools were grabbing top talent. It was no longer, Pat, Geno and Tara. Other schools were emerging. If we had Pat back, at the top of her game, the LV might still be no better than mediocre, with this team. I may be wrong, but I am willing to give CKC another year.

And never won anything that mattered. They were worse for having her. Sucked as a person and a player.
I think I just had an epiphany. Always thought you were just a loose cannon that shot before aiming. Now I see it for what it is.

When I was rewatching our game against Alabama, especially in the first half when I wasn’t trying to keep an eye on WTH was happening with Cooper, I kept thinking there is no way that Alabama has better players than Tennessee. And I still don’t think they do. I just think the coach uses them more effectively.

Nope. The NCAA is a red line. We have the number two class from last year and the number 2 recruit and another great recruit coning in next year. Hardly the team of a flatline program. Are you a troll?
