Wasn't the shutdown because the Republicans did not want to spend as much money as the Democrats did? Correct me if I'm wrong on this and Democrats shut the government down because they wanted to cut Federal spending.

I’m not sure what point you’re making. Trump continuously signs ridiculous spending bills that increases the deficit. Hell what happened to defunding the department of education?

The government should shutdown until they get their crap together and cut useless spending. Instead trump encourages it

Hey, if you're calling for Trump not signing a spending bill until he gets a balanced budget, buddy I'm all in with you. I may have misunderstood your post as a shot at Trump spending money like he is the one passing spending bills. No, he's slightly more interested in balancing the budget over Dems, but that is comparing how wet is sea water to fresh water.

I'll vote for anyone who says either pass a balanced budget or have enough votes to override his veto. I do not care what his affiliation is.

A sane version of protectionism ain't that complicated. This is not sanity. It's not nitpicking to say he's completely failed on his #1 objective. It's not nitpicking to say he broke the law. It's not nitpicking to say he destroyed any certainty in the market. Get outta here, bro.

Let’s get it straight, the reason he loves tariffs is because it gives him leverage. It gives him leverage in domestic politics and it gives him leverage internationally. To pretend he understands economics well enough to create sound economic policy is laughable. What he DOES know how to do (and loves) is forcing people to grovel and bring him gifts.
