We calling cameras AI now? If it can't draw me pictures of Biden drawing weiners on Trumps face while he sleeps on camera, it ain't AI.

Also they got rid of most toll workers like 10 years ago. Same with transponders. Toll by plate.
Yeah
But I haven't been to Miami in years. It changed since the last time I drove there. Not AI but it falls into the lost jobs category of humans being replaced.

This same concern has been around for millenia. I'm not saying it isn't valid. I'm saying this isn't the first iteration of human labor competing with more reliable, more efficient, less costly replacement.

Humans to animals to machines to robots to computers. All of those transitions were concerning. Now we add computers to Ai.
Right, but with people not working, what are they to do??

Find different work. Work for themselves. It's the same thing throughout history with the other transitions, I think.
Ahh, I was talking about those that get a check for AI taking their jobs. I think that will happen...speculation of course.

Historically, you are correct though.

Not sure if joking but any idiot with a pulse knows this won’t end well.

No idea when. May be a 100 years or more.

But at some point this ends bad for human kind.
Probably 10-15yrs before most of the country is in poverty.
Right now is the greatest time we have to make a difference in our lives.
We either step up and create a good living & pay off our assets or we get locked into Lower Class.

My advice, multi-family dwellings. Maybe research creative financing options or if you have the equity/capital finance the on your own.

if you are actually worried about AI taking jobs away from people, start growing your own food.

Another thing to consider: If AI becomes widespread in the workforce, replacing millions of workers, then what are they to do? What will happen to the economy? It would get crushed....unless, the large companies that have replaced such workers are forced to pay out the those not working. I will bet you anything that is what will happen, then crime and violence would explode everywhere. Idle hands are the devils workshop.
I think that’s what Zuckerberg was saying wrt universal basic income. He was foretelling the massive loss of jobs due to AI.

Yeah that’s BS. No UPS driver makes $170,000 a year. A lot the new buildings are automated which means you don’t need as many part time employees. UPS is closing centers. UPS is phasing out Amazon pkgs because they say the aren’t profitable. UPS uses AI to dispatch the routes which means you need less management which aren’t Union employees.

Trump has nothing to do with it. UPS made bank during covid in profits and it was time for a new contract around that time so the contract got drivers raises they deserved. Revenue was $88.7 billion with 7.9 billion profit in 2025 for UPS

This is the raises drivers got over the 5 year period of the new contract. Got a good wage increase when the new contract was agreed to. Get a good wage increase the last year of the contract. Top pay for driver right now is $45.74 but if you are a new driver you have a 4 year progression before you reach top pay.

2023 $2.75

2024 $0.75

2025 $0.75

2026 $1.00

2027 $2.25

Total $7.50

They do not use Ai to dispatch. It was tried and didn’t work. It is still being looked at, maybe 1 day. As far as that $170k that is for a milage run and includes all benefits paid by UPS and that total is still a little less than the $170k. Top driver in pay in east Tennessee last year was paid around $143k.

No driver makes $170,000 a year. DOT Laws you can only work 60 hours a week and you can’t work more than 14 hours in a day because you have to have 10hrs off work before can work again
This is not exactly true, there is a 70 hour rule put into affect at busy times.

They use AI to help the dispatcher at some centers. We hear about it all the time from the dispatcher. If that driver made that much he worked a lot OT probably some 6 days a week

Like I said it was tried and didn’t work well. Also like I said they are still trying to find a fit. It will be a while if ever ai takes the place of a physical dispatcher. It is the milage runs that pay almost $1k per day where the highest earners are.

Hope you are right AI is terrible and if your dispatcher doesn’t correct the mistakes AI makes it can make for a terrible day.

UPS has to get special permission for that. We never had that especially since UPS can’t force you to work 6 days now
To my knowledge they have never been turned down when request it.
They are offering another buyout for drivers and this where a majority of that 30k number.
