Ted Kennedy dead at 77

I didn't like Tony Snow's politics but did not know the man and assume that those Democrats and liberal media folks who talked about what a nice guy he was when he died knew what they were talking about.

Chappaquidick is pretty awful but it was 40 years ago. Kennedy was apparently a lush and battled some demons.

But it is pretty evident here that the reason so many take such utter delight in the death of the man is because of his politics and I think that is just shameful.

well that is the only way to get him out of office really. TERM LIMITS!!!!!!

So murder is OK, as long as it happened 40 years ago?

Damn right wingers. It's their fault there is no statute of limitations on murder.

why should someone fake remorse? No one here knew the man personally and his death does not affect me in any way. Honestly, it means there aren't enough votes in the Senate to pass the HC bill and it's all TK's fault. He changed the rules to get around a Repub gov and now it bites them all in the rear. Pretty funny actually.

Woo, maybe you can provide some examples of Left Wingers who said nice things about Tony Snow. I'm sure there were some that did, but I wld bet that the majority were celebrating his death. Don't twist it LG

This isn't about his politics in the least. It's about his family "earning" its money via bootlegging and parlaying that into an ungodly fortune via Joe's insider trading. It's about all of the absurdity from the press about the Kennedy's being American royalty. Finally, it's about the sleazeball getting away with manslaughter because he has "drug" money.

I don't give a rat's ass about his politics. I do give a rat's ass about him not living under our version of the Magna Carta.

Murder? Really?
Mince words all you'd like, but to the Kopechne family, who never saw their loved one again, I can't imagine they view it as anything but killing.

The piece of trash never had it in him to live up to the crime so your quibbling over nomenclature seems a bit pathetic at best. Are you sure your support for the man isn't about his politics?

YOU are the one bringing politics into the situation.

If person A is a bag of crap and people talk about him as such why does his politics necessarily have anything to do with it?

You want to compare him and Snow. Why? Because they were from different parties? What does that have to do with the character of either one?

I recall liberal media types commenting on what a nice guy he was.

I don't remember anything remotely approaching the absolute giddiness with which Sen. Kennedy's death has been met.

What giddiness are you speaking of? I've watched some of evil Fox today and it's been all positive.

Are you speaking of comments on this board? Go back a see what posters (HuffPo, UD, etc.) said about Snow. Horrifyingly mean.

Are you talking about your buddy Rush? Go back an listen to what liberal talk folks said about Snow.

Honestly - do you look at everything through your jort-colored glasses?

agreed. the epitome of whats wrong with our culture, "do what you want and do what it takes to get out of the trouble, never take personal responsibility"

i don't remember bush calling falwell the greatest anything of our generation. and on the slimeball scale falwell is around a 7. kennedy is a 10+

You never said anything about the president, just the "left" or "right". And the "right" (and some on the "left") for that matter fell all over themselves celebrating a man who was a bigot (and proud of it), established a religious racket, and openly said the U.S. got what it deserved on 9/11.

Kennedy does have some skeletons in his closet that are truly disgusting, probably moreso than Falwell, et el...but this is about politics and I highly doubt if he were a republican we would be seeing the mudslinging we are in this thread, at least on this scale.

nobody around here supported Falwell in any way when he died. He was a controversial figure and held some absurd beliefs, but he never killed anyone.

The whole getting away with killing someone and going on to a full Senate career is a bit divisive, no?

LULZ at the whole Falwell comparison. 2 completely diff. things. funny they'll mention falwell, but forget snow. interesting Chris Matthews this morning on the Today show was pretty much saying that TK ran the nation. As CM put it "TK was the QB, now Obama has to step up and be the QB". it was truly disgusting

I'm not going to sit here and defend Kennedy or what he did, and yes, it is very divisive.

But my point is there are plenty of divisive figures on both sides, and depending on the political beliefs espoused by said figures determines in large part how they are viewed by the other side, in life or death.

I would also say, in response to the Tony Snow example, that I found much of the commentary on the far left to be disgusting and vile.
