Rodney Garner to be retained

I can't imagine his hand having been forced. You don't hire a guy like him to then micromanage. He isn't a guy who's married to a certain group of assistants, so why not retain a top tier position coach. Knowles and Coach Garner likely have a lot in common in terms of age, mentality/approach.

I hope that's the case, but we've only had a 100 or so VN posts suggest that he should be told or encouraged to retain Garner, so let's not act like it's crazy talk that someone in power may have thought similarly, especially considering, as you suggest, RG is an excellent position coach and at worst it makes a fair modicum of sense to retain him in any event.

Good deal. That said, RGs guys need to have a better year next year. Giving up 300 yards rushing, most up the gut, to Vandy, isn’t acceptable. They need to win more 1 v 1 battles and disrupt. Maybe Knowles will ask for more of it vs just taking up a blocker to let an lb make a tackle

Eason needed to be around 320. Probably 310 for Moi and Robinson. Wallace was a non-factor. Campbell is a tweener than can play end. Hobbs is way too small.

What does underachieve look like in 26? Killer schedule. I could see that fanbase accepting 9-3, heavily restless at 8-4, pitchforks at 7-5, and 10-2± bronze statuesque.

I hope this is something Knowles genuinely wanted to do and didn't feel coerced in any way. RG is a great coach no doubt but I couldn't blame Knowles for wanting a clean slate either.

Who is going to tell Knowles what decision to make? Are you insinuating that our head coach knows something about defense?

Not many people understand what you are saying. I do and not once thought we underachieved. Minus a couple miscues with field goals and we are in it. We are solid going forward. Go VOLS!
