Premiere League & World Soccer Thread

Even when a man down it felt like Chelsea were the better team today. No doubt in my mind if Caicedo doesn’t make that mistake and get sent off than we would have won that.

What a weird week for Everton. An absolute turd of a home performance sandwiched between wins at a place we hadn’t won in over a decade and another place where we’d never won.

Looks like the US got a pretty good draw.

What's the Group of Death? L probably? Depending on who wins the playoff could also be I.

Aggregate FIFA ranking of all four teams in each group, and lowest ranked team in each group, assuming that the highest ranked team wins in each playoff pathway:

A - 119, South Africa (61)
B - 107, Qatar (51)
C - 136, Haiti (84)
D - 104, Paraguay (39)
E - 156, Curacao (82)
F - 93, Tunisia (40)
G - 148, New Zealand (86)
H - 145, Cape Verde (68)
I - 109, Iraq (58)
J - 127, Jordan (66)
K - 125, DR Congo (56)
L - 116, Ghana (72)

Going just off FIFA rankings (which, just no, don't do that), F is the most competitive and balanced group, and we've got the best worst team in group D.

Aside from weird arbitrary rankings, it's gotta be I. France, Senegal and Norway is just brutal.

I see Salah has caused quite a stir the past couple days. Just pulled that pin right out from the grenade and tossed it straight into the dressing room and said “see ya in 1-2 months after AFCON”.

Honestly, agree quite a bit with what he said, just wasn’t the best way to go about it.

It’s pretty insane bc he is definitely tarnishing his legacy some. I’m with you - lot of truth to what he said but definitely not the right timing or avenue for it.

One thing he said that I wholeheartedly disagree with is no one has unlimited goodwill for a starting spot - that’s a terrible precedent to set.

I thought VVD, Salah, Robertson, etc were kept on to usher in the new signings/manager and keep mentality intact. Salah is clearly not helping in this department.

Some talking heads such as Rooney have no room to talk on this subject. Pretty sure he tried to forced his way out of ManUre twice due to nit starting.

Yeah I chuckled when I heard some talking heads talking about it because pot meet kettle.

But hey, at least Salahs comments came in the heat of the moment. He could have been like Lukaku and just aired it all out in a pre-meditated interview about how unhappy he is 😅
